Default TheStuffz' F350 Dually

So, I was going over my "leftover" parts from the semi and my highlift build. It looked like I had allot of parts and I had originally took the front semi suspension and was going to use it for building a trailer, but that has now started to become a truck.

First was the frame rails that I had. Same thing but I used the ones that had holes in them.

I had the original 3 speed from the semi as I used the fancy 2 speed planetary in the semi.

I used the old trailer lights from the flatbed trailer. I also had an F350 cab that I used to have on my SCX10 until the body posts broke lol. So I mocked it up on the frame.

I was debating on one or two axles, but decided on once because it would look weird with two. The rear axle is a tamiya highlift axle. it is one wheel each side wider then the fronts.

I then just mocked up the rear axle in the holes that were existing in the frame for now. The springs are Topcad D90 springs from asiatees.

I also took the dremel and removed the additional springs from the semi front springs and the topcad D90 springs were just bolted like a highlift spring set. This gave me great flex!

There is more to go. I did make videos along the way. They will be out on Youtube soon.

I am planning to sand down and re-do the cab.. eventually.

comments/suggestions?

Also I found out these Topcad drive shafts I have are very interesting. They use 3/16 hex shaft. So I went on amazon and found a 10" long hex driver that I plan to cut and butcher for a nice solid drive shaft

Cab is the tamiya highlift F350. should be easy to find on ebay.

parts needed to make it a cab is, The cab, Windshield (side and rear glass is one piece held in with 4 screws), the grille (needs 4 screws), grille stay (angled piece of metal that braces grille to under hood), the front bumper (2 screws to hold that to back side of grille), head light lenses.

Sometimes you get lucky and find one that is all together. This one had the box and grille and lenses. I just had to buy the glass for it.

Mirrors are optional. they seem to fall off way too easy so most don't bother with them. there is a guy that sells rubber mirrors vs the plastic stock ones and they seems to stay on better.

I got a set of rubber mirrors to. they didn't stay on. could have been glue/tape etc. I plan to re-paint cab so that's why they are not on there atm.

I ordered a ton of stuff the other day. this is no longer a parts only truck.. dammit lol

I ordered the 700 piece button head hardware package from Team KNK Hardware.
I ordered a 5200kv brushless setup, esc's, lipo warnings, servos etc from hobby king (i want to smoke them duals!)
ordered a lesu dump mechanism from joe's truck stop.
ordered a 1:14 planetary from ebay.
ordered a set of highlift lockouts from ebay.
ordered a couple misc parts trees from ebay.
going to use my light bar from asiatees

Also ordered a 10" long hex driver for my driveshaft. had to ship it to usa... silly amazon

Still debating on winch to use. I have a 3racing winch on my scx10 that i never use but its wireless, and i have a 6ch radio to use for it... RC4wd has that warn winch that has 2x the power but then snatchblocks do the same thing. Also debating on the rc4wd safety thimble as a hook for pulling on bins/skids.

Just some updates on it. I did get it rolling for the first time today. That brushless is overkill! makes them duals spin too easy!

My 700 piece hardware bag showed up today and so did my hoist.

Playlist of the videos Ive made of it.

Well some updates.

1 - Got the rear suspension mounted correctly.

2 - Junfac Highlift lockouts installed. These fit PERFECT!

3 - My lift arrived. Overpriced but as the scale world goes, you pay for what size you need it to be.

4 - Moved the lift farther back and down, Made up the rails for the lift using 1" flat aluminum. used leftover braces but of course, where I put them isn't where the lift wanted them. I also used left over shock supports from the globe and a highlift for rail guides.

5 - Guess I didnt take a picture of it but for the rear, because my lift rails don't just end at the end of the truck's chassis, I had to go farther. So I flipped the bumper crossmemeber, used the lower shock mounts from a front axle of the semi, used standoffs for highlift suspension, and some new hardware from my KHK hardware bundle I bought and got the rails pivoting now! So now I need to figure out how to attach the lift top half and go from there. Lift used 4mm hardware to mount at the top side so I will have to see how that goes. I also mounted the fuel tank. It is leftovers from the MFC parts tree. Had to shave off the top and bottom of the [ brackets so now they are just | and used couple screws from behind the frame to secure it. not like its gotta hold anything. just look perdy lol.

I got her in there. It's not solid by any means. I am waiting on some threaded rod to show up. 3mm and 4mm plated rod was 4 bucks a meter.

Thanks to Lmackattack for some photos and help along the way!!!

Got the universal installed. Now still waiting for the gear reducer to show up.

Looking good....One thing I see that may cause you issue is the plastic u joint for the screw drive...I tried a plastic one first on my mack 6 wheeler but it ripped it apart when lifting a heavy load....I now use a metal one and have had no issues....

Keep us posted and glad to be of any help....

well it got as finished as it will for now. the dump mechanism was robbed for my end dump trailer. kinda stole drive shafts out for my king hauler to lol.

But I think it will get a deck made of wood, and new drive shafts.

until then it sits on the new shelves I put up the other day.
