Re: CAT 374D L
I got the hydraulic system up and running to test leaks and found one on the stick cylinder tubing I fix that and made a little video of the test run.
There's 7,2 kg weight on the bucket and it seems to have much more lifting capasity, all though it need lot of counter weight http://youtu.be/M9QHtM6sdxI

Re: CAT 374D L
will you manage counterweight made in alu or have to do in steel?
Good looking steps. Guess by now that you are an expert on programing! Dan |

I would have never believe that this thing can have so much power, I was just lifting a full size car tire with steel rim which propably weighs around 20kg and it didn't even struggle.

Re: CAT 374D L
Finally its moving!
Not to bad with only one leak, looks very smooth in the hydraulics! |

Re: CAT 374D L
Just one leak?! ..that's pretty good on start up. The real test will be when you're working the snott out of it for a couple hours straight, maxing the pressure constantly!

Re: CAT 374D L
That's a bit extreme, what do you have the pressure set to?

Re: CAT 374D L
Nice work as always Ari.
I guess it's so powerful due to the size of the rams? Am I correct in thinking that the bigger the ID of the cyclinders the more powerful they are? What's your thoughts on the Kampfer ventil/valves?

On the down side they also need more capasity from the pump and also larger hydraulic lines. My cylinders have 18 mm bore, so they are not that large. I'm very pleased with the Kampfer valves so far

Re: CAT 374D L
I've been working with the counterweight and it's turn out to be nightmare to make I wish I were able to make it like Steve (ihbuilder) in one piece, but my cam program won't do 3D (I think)
I also did some welding on the counterweight with Durafix but it really does not work well when you have to brace different thicknesses together. The thinner plate tends to expand more while heating and it goes curved, and when everything cools down and shrinks, it doesn't look too good I'm seriously thinking about buying small TIG welder, it looks like you can make very small welds with it without heating the parts too much. Been watching Reg's Kenworth 850 build and hope I can some day learn to weld that well

Re: CAT 374D L
Thanks for the ego boost! I think a TIG would serve you very well Ari. It can be a little challenging at times especially when welding two different thicknesses of material(at least for me). It would be nice for you to be able to weld together some things instead of drilling and threading for fasteners. CNC cut panels would weld together sooooo nice! Keep up the great work! This machine is awesome!

Re: CAT 374D L
Ari, great job there!
Maybe you should get better CAM? Also for that one part, why not try a demo of some powerful program? You could get the part done even if you don't buy the 10k per year CAM system Just some thoughts That shiny aluminium looks so good, maybe you don't paint it? |
