What gearmotors are you running in the bruder mack dump truck? I kinda like that setup for my crane hauler.

I've had better luck locking grubscrews with a drop on the seating end rather than threads. A little ends up in the threads anyway, but seems to hold the shaft better.

The tipper motor is 12V 3RPM. The gear motors are 12V, 120 RPM, that I bought from Evilbay. I am unable to find the link for them right now.

Feeling a bit under the weather the last few days. Thinking I'm getting the flu, or something. I felt good enough to tinker in the garage fir about an hour today, then back to laying down. I was able to make a lil progress on the Bruder Mack dump truck today. Sorry fir the crappy cell phone pics again. Just didn't feel like the hastle of bringing out the camera today, when I have one on the phone.

The frame is a lil different on this Mack, then the Bruder Mann that these 3D printed parts were made for. That being said, I have to improvise a bit to get them to work. Here's how I atached the rear bogey to the frame.

Later the aluminum was painted black like the frame rails.

Once the pic of it FINALLY gets did uploading, I'll have pics of the whole thing, with the dump box mocked up.

As promised, here's the pic of the mockup. IDk why, the little thinking circle thingy kept spinning round & round, for over an hour. I FINALLY got tired of waiting fir it to send, deleted it, & re-sent it. The re-send appeared in about 30 seconds. IDk what'd happening with the interwebs lately!

A quick question for those of you with a tad more experience building then I have.........If I were to use BRASS tubing, & ALUMINUM round stock inserted inside of it, will standard lead/tin solder work to adhere the 2 together. I'm looking to make joints to secure 2 pieces of brass tubing together. My thought was to insert 6mm alum stock into the brass tubing, so that it aligns as near perfectly as possible. I'm having trouble finding brass tubing that's the size I want, AND at the same time lengthy enough for what I want to do.

Thanks for that link, now i've got an M-35 coming. That's a great price!

What's the laptop o/s? Some of the password screens aren't much of an issue.
It arrived today. I'd post pics of it, but it's the same as the other one.....except it's the green color. This thang got here about 20 days earlier then I though it was going to. Sometime those slow boats from China aren't as slow as we anticipate they will be..........................That's a good problem to have.

The aluminum can align your brass, but short of a TIG or Aluminum brazing sticks, nothing sticks to aluminum to anything. The brass to brass connection is only as strong as the solder, unless you stuff more brass rod in there.

Hit up a hardware store, Lowes, Menards, Homeless Depot... check their weldable metal section. You can usually find about 3' chunks of brass tube and rod stock. If you need an obsucre size or profile, try to find a Hobbytown?

Post 14, 3d printer servo mount for wpl m35

Those little hand tools look very cool, i hope my mechanic doesn't start pushing me to get those and some jackstands.

I really like when the slow boats from china say "**** the torpedos, full speed ahead!". My blinky lights were ordered dec 14, due sometime jan 9 - 30. Arrived dec 28! I hope my M35 makes it on a fast boat.

Frizzy, as always, thanks fir the info! Also a great big Thank-you fir that link. From that link I followed another link, that took me here
https://www.tinkercad.com/users/ijdXrBIYp5t-adrian202gt
There is a plethora of other 3D print parts there for this model.

Those lil tools are even cooler looking in person then they are looking at them on the website.

I'll be ordering some brass round stock that'll perfectly nest inside the brass tube. Strength in this project is crucial. I'll be assembling the headache rack that the trailer will rest on while it's stowed upon the trucks back. If it fails, the trailer will fall off. Falling off, ESPECIALLY under power, could potentially damage the truck AND/OR the trailer. I'd rather do it right the first time, then redo it, PLUS R+R damages.

Nice find, i hadn't gone down that rabbit hole yet.

If strength is that nessicary, i'd try to go as much solid as possible. Torch until about dull red, bend gently. If you need to change a bend, always reheat. Brass cold works fast and will break.

I've not yet decided if tube, or solid will be used. I'm leaning towards tubing, but time, & testing will be the tell all.

Tonight, I FINALLY got around to installing the new metal bucket on the converted Bruder Liebherr L574 loader. It took a lil modification to the stock arms to make it fit. I had to shave the nubs off the boom, as well as shave down the connecting boom that tips the bucket.

Thank-you sir, fir the kind words.

A while back, I found a 3D printed seat for the 4200XL. I made it, & found it needed re-sized a smidge to fit the driver figure. Using the Walking dead (amazons) still didn't quite fit it right. I re-sized it, & printed it again. Here's how it looked mocked up in the machine.unnamed 126 by Anthony Kalnoski, on Flickr
I still have to fabricate something for the travel levers.

Today was a fairly productive day at my lil hobby assembly area, Hobby Central as roomies have nicknamed it. I started to make a lil progress on the New Bright tractor conversion. Got it all apart,& figured out what was staying, & what would be junked. The steering propulsion system was removed. The drive motor, & gearbox are staying.
unnamed 127 by Anthony Kalnoski, on Flickr

The red drawing line in this snap is where I trimmed excess cr@p out of the machines gearbox. There was a smoke generator machine in the rig, but it didn't function. Since it didn't function, there ISN'T any reason to have the box that drove the air pump for it!

The area in white doodle was completely removed. Also some areas below it were extracted from the chassis.

Nice job on the seat, no excavator is complete without an operator.

In preperation to build the Bruder Caterpillar D11 conversion, I bought something I've not yet used. Seeing that the D4 has a wear issue with the faux idler wheels wearing out, I found this on evilbay
https://www.ebay.com/itm/HengLong-1-...72.m2749.l2649
My plan is to use them to replace the stock faux idler system. Do you folks think it'll work? I sure hope so, as I've already bough them!

Happy New Year to everyone!

NOT much to update today. That slow boat from China that got here super FAST.....well I'm paying for it now. The speed controller that I ordered on 12-21-17 & has an estimated delivery date of 12-1-17 to 1-8-18, for the New Bright tractor conversion HASN'T yet arrived. Soon as it FINALLY arrives, I can get this project did. I have managed to get the tractor as far as I can go, before that SLOW boat finally arrives me.

Today the latest anticipated delivery date, the ESC for the New Bright tractor conversion arrived me. Since the guys from work (in the event we are NOT working) hang at the RC racetrack on Mon, & Wed, & sometimes Tuesdays too, I won't be getting around to installing it for a few days. I did get a few pics of the servo installed in it.
unnamed 130 by Anthony Kalnoski, on Flickr

unnamed 131 by Anthony Kalnoski, on Flickr

I thought about just using double sided sticky tape to hold the servo in palace. I decided against that, & used some styrene to build a bracket to hold the servo in. I did this because I've NOT had good luck with my double sided sticky tape keeping things stuck in place lately.

I can't wait til Thuusday, when I can get this thang completed!

Today the guys stayed at the RC raceway later then usual. Having fun hangin with the guys, & racing our RC trucks & buggies, I stayed too. After I got home, I made a lil progress on the Bruder Mack dump truck conversion. I got the bed mounted to the tipper motor, & added some paint to the tipping mounts. Within the next few days, I hope to get the electronics finished. HOPEFULLY sometime soon, the Washington weather will give me a fair day, & I can get it outside to get some pics, &/or vid(s) of it getting dirty while working.

Excavator operator with an eye patch? Does he have depth perception issues?

Glad to see the tractor conversion is coming along pretty well. *cough*firetruck*cough*
