I worked on this again for a short bit today. I wanted to tighten/stiffen things up on the boom so I made some sleeves for the stock plastic do-hickies. It's amazing how much difference it made! I started out with 1/4" round bar and drilled it out with a #2 bit leaving a pretty thin sleeve. I also widened the the spacing on the radius arms and this fixed the bucket curl issue Joe was talking about. I will put some spacers on the 3/16 pin so that the arms stay put but it works much better.

Then I had to find a storage spot....

RCP's got back to where things all started over the weekend. Building dirt bike parts....

It took a while to figure out all the bits and pieces but it fits well and will do the job of keeping foreign objects away from the expensive parts. The last time I built one of these I didn't have a mill or much in the way of equipment. I'm not sure if having it makes the job easier but it certainly makes the end result better.

Thanks for the words of encouragement Greg! I can't argue with what you've said though. I wanna knock the rust off but not damage the metal underneath.

Haha, well this one is quieter than the last but still a bit loud. I've yet to really ride it as my to do list and miserable weather have kept me off of it other than a quick blast down the driveway on Friday. Hopefully I can get on it this week sometime. Going to take baby steps with it and try not to land on my head. I ordered a new case for my GoPro a while back so I will film a video or two once I get it. It will be some pretty boring stuff but the bark of a fresh 250 2 stroke is hard to beat. At least that part will be good.lol

Haha, I already have the mini bikes, just don't have the training wheels. I think RW's tire mold would work perfect for casting a few though...

I've never owned a 125 but I almost bought one now. If it weren't for being 220# in full gear I probably would have done it and saved $800 on the bike. I'm not much of a revver so the 250 suits me a little more in general but I am a bit more timid because they have so much power. The last couple of 125's my friends had were a lot of fun on my track with lots of turns and technical jumps. There is absolutely no need for upwards of 50hp on this track(or under my @ss) but when I go on a trail ride the extra torque is very nice to have. I was really considering the new offroad "X" model as it has a little mellower power and a wide ratio gearbox but it also has softer suspension which may be too soft for me on the track. I need to win the lotto so that I can have them all.lol I hope to get out on this one soon but putting up our Xmas lights has been eating into my time the last couple of days and the weather still sucks. Supposed to get nicer towards the weekend so maybe I can go for 5-10 minutes then. I will be gassed out after that and need a nap.lol

I never owned a bike when I was young but I had a few friends that had them so I did get to ride a 125 on a track we had back home. Enough that I was getting bold with it and then a friend suggested I try his CR250......one lap, I was done. I literally feared for my life! The power of that bike was insane!
Anyway, When you say your going to take baby steps, remember one thing, just when you think your ready to turn it up a notch......wait another week or so just to be safe.
