Default De chroming wheels

I know there is probably a thread already but how do you get the chrome off wheels? Especially the Tamiya ones as I need to paint them red.

Spray them with oven cleaner like: Easy-Off, keep the items in a clear plastic bag tied up for an hour. The chemical will eat the chrome finish and leave bare plastic. Rinse very well to get rid off residue.
Cheers.
