Ummm, that's just a little bigger than your Taig mill. Hopefully you can make the adjustment to using it. I wish I had your room for machinery.

Is this the machine that is going to turn out all of your new wheels? If so, will you turn the OD of the wheel blank on the lathe and then finish it off in the mill? Looks like fun.

Nice purchase! Looks right at home with your lathe. Old and heavy rather than new and light weight!! If you can afford a Kurt angle-loc vise, get it! They are the best you can get! Hopefully, the mill uses R-8 tooling. Lots of things out there for it if so. You make me green also as I have no room for anything that big

Sherline CNC is still waiting for new parts Budget ran out of funding at the moment.

Rich , I out grew that tiag the minute i set it up I should have stuck with my gut instinct well I had to unload some stuff to get this size . but it is worth it the only part of the wheel process being done on here is holes and taping I'm now looking to get a cnc tool room lathe next that will take the bar size I use . I got a 150 wheels @ the drill press right now and only finished drilling the hubs . At the amount I'm doing it's getting old doing it by hand . once the mill is going , I'll be making stuff I've been trying to get to for a while .

that stinks with the sherline ,Lynn I know what you mean with budget this 1 is slightly over budget but It just finished a job before I picked it up . It takes a # 40 tool holder . the space comes from being in the excavating bizz ,need a big shop to work on stuff although I never got mine built and prob. wont need to either . just listed another piece this morn.. hate to see it go but not doing any good sittin here .

Size #40 tool holders!! That is huge for a manual machine. I still need 2 new stepper motors. Sherline has smaller stepper motors and wrong type of connectors on it right now.

I know that it is CNC just that size toolholders are huge for most single tool machines. That thing should be able to handle some heavy duty milling! I think that the Okuma CNC mills I have been running use the same size. Only ran one other CNC mill that used bigger toolholders. It was a beast!!
Are the controls on your new mill Fanuc or something else?

well the big gray old POSCNC mill was giving me such a headache I had to put it aside till I can get a control for it and have time to work on it . BUT 2 new pieces came and I finally got them hooked up now I'm waiting for the rest of the tooling

8600# mill most expensive of the 2 got lucky on this 1

5000# 16/40 lathe it's not new but it's no antique and it is sweet

yea BIG thanks to my sig. other the mill was a rare find It was set up as a scanner in reverse engineering . It's a "99" but maybe 100 hrs on it looks like it came right out of the factory best part , only a 1/4 of a new 1 . I've been trying the lathe already , like night and day compared to the old 1 I'm waiting on the rest of my tooling for it , then I'll be buried in shavings soon enough . and the mill I'm getting use to this cam program real quick the heck with righting out the program sit here and do it on the puter when I'm too tire to operate .

I think you will spend more time writing programs than running the mill Looks like you should be set for quite awhile for making wheels. Wish I had room for either of the machines Good luck with them.

Lynn , it sure is nice to be able to do something when your too tired to operate the lathe late at night . I've been trying to program 2 trailer frames by hand to cut on the old mill for weeks , I got them both ready to load in the mill in just a few nights course I had the cad part done already .

well she'll be parking on the 2nd floor with my truck I'll have to move my 53 R100 into the lower barn . I got visualmill not bad but we'll see how it looks when I start cutting . the lathe is awesome , I can get my feed much slower then I could get on the hendey
