Very cool! He must have a nice machine shop or access to one to make those. Not to mention a lot of money!

I agree! You would need some serious metal forming equipment to build those.

Nice! A size that could actually be useful for small jobs.

Wow, that's crazy. Wish I could translated the interview, but those are some incredible models....machines! At that size though, I'd probably look at getting a skidsteer and mini excavator....though I know that's not the point, nor do I mean to take anything away from the fascination of models like that. Very cool.

You know it is bigger but think about it except for the main frame you could go out and buy most of the parts you need to build it at a farm supply not like use who have to order special parts, Ed

The metal working would definately take some large tools and lots of $$$$, but my first thought was "where does he find tires for these things"? My second thought was "You dont want to get one of those stuck, you would have to call a real wrecker to get it out".

Very, very cool.

There was a guy in Winnipeg, Manitoba that built a half scale New Holland skid steer, just so he could clear the snow from his driveway from the comfort inside the house... I talked to him thru email about it, he had designed his own auto shutdown in case the tx ever lost communication with the rx.

You're right Ed, other than the computer cut steel, everything else on that skid steer was bought off the shelf from Princess Auto. He was using 1/4 scale servos to operate the valves and the wheels were hyd motor driven too. He had a windows media player video on his website... I just checked the link I had saved for it, but I get "page not found"... too bad! It was pretty cool what he had done 15yrs ago.

Probably was the same one Neil. I remember seeing his on the bay for about $7000 opening bid... no way I could afford to spend that much on toys back then! I'd sure love to have it now, being my lower back pain what it is... I have numerous little jobs round here to keep that lil guy busy!
