Talking My new dump truck a little different.

I have been wanting to build this and have been collecting parts since March. I now have most of what I need so I started on it today. I also had extra time today since the snow storm hit and the sent us home at noon. We got 12in of snow from 7am to 1pm.

Let me know what you think.

Travis

Thanks everybody and here is a short video of the drive and the bed operation. I need to get a faster gear motor for the lift but this one will work for now. Best part is the way this truck is set up now you can use a 7.2V-12V NMIH or a 2-3 cell LiPo.

Thanks for looking.

I haven't decided yet whether the drive sprocket at the front is intentional or an oversight..

That is how the chassis is made. Maybe this pic will help.

Awesome idea! I've seen trucks like this, surfing the internet too! This will be an intersting one to watch. Do you think the drivetrain will hold up to the extra stress of hauling a load of dirt? I'm not sure how robust the Tamiya tank drivetrains are.

This thing is neat Travis, thanks for the link. Back in the early 80's I put a tamiya F150 body on a German flak panzer chassis, the thing was a blast!

Thanks Nate I got the chassis from a member here on the forum and he says the tracks and drives are very durable and have been severely tested at the Virgina tank museum tank battles. Most of the time I play in the rubber at shows so I designed the whole thing with the rubber in mind. I am sure it would work fine in the dirt but I will just have to test it out and see.

Thanks and so far running it around in the garage it has been a blast. Now I just need to finish a few things, find some cab parts, and get it painted.

Thanks Brian I got the idea for this on my last trip to the Brookville show last spring. I am sure Izzy, Lynn, and Nate had heard me talk about it enough by the time we got home.

I have seen a tracked dumper similar to that on a river dredging spoil site. It could go almost anywhere. The entire bed was on a pivot so it could dump off the back as well as either side. That is looking good.
