Default RC4WD Semi Diff

http://store.rc4wd.com/Scale-Semi-Tr...al_p_2891.html

Is it an exact matched ratio to the stock semi axles?

I seem to have a lot of trouble with just the middle diff with either stripping teeth off the front pinions or breaking spider crosses within the differential. I see it says hardened steel internals, does that include the pinions too? Anybody torture these axles yet?

I've wanted to buy those for a while but they have been out of stock for quite some time. I would also like to know if anyone has been using them. It would be cool to have a locking-unlocking diff.

ah shoot! I didn't notice that.

The noise my KH dump trk is making sounds like the front pinion is stripped again and I've got no more spares.

I have some of the Renegade Axels that are no longer made I want to fool around with someday when I do a conversion on my old Eska Ertl IH Payhaulers. RC4wd do still have some of the rear differential spools in stock. They come with the dog that locks them too.

The harden bevel gear / pinion gear is the same on TLT ,F-350 and rc4wd's D40 T-Rex 60. They can be bought from Rc4wd , the harden spool is still be found.

Just a FYI, Tamiya now do a hardened bevel pinon and cup set for their stock axles:

#56529 4x2 (i.e, one axle)
#56530 6x4 (two axles)

Thinking of getting some as I have a tonne of backlash now in my diffs in both trucks (**** those high miles... )

Let us know how well that works out for you.

I took my KH front diff apart last night to see the pinion was badly worn, but not strip. The spider cross broke & one of the pins was floating around in the pumpkin, probably went through pinion/crown mesh a few times.

I actually just installed one of these in my dump and it broke within minutes. I took it apart and the little locking fingers sheered right off. For the price I think they could have been hardened but they are replacing it for free so ill give them another try.

Well I got my replacement axle with no questions asked. It really does have a nice look to it but time will tell if it holds up. Now if I could just get my lowboy from them that's been on backorder.

I believe they are made by the same vendor that makes the axles for the Eagle pay loader so I would not count on the Quality being that good.

If you don’t mind the axle being locked use the hardened pinion and spool from RC3WD
