Default Where I'm at with my build!

I have stock lights but need info on wiring up lights. I have 1.6 1.8 3 and 5mm led's to put on and all are 1.8 to 2 volts max, I'm using a 7.2 volt lipo battery so any help would be awesome.

Thanks Dabears. It was a different color but it was water based paint and every time I put masking tape to it it would just peel the paint right off so I changed the idea and went with this instead.

This is what I was going with but the blue and orange are water based paints and don't like masking tape at all.

Did you primer the body before hitting it with the paint? That could be one issue with it peeling?

Even after a good cleaning I've seen a lot of tamiya bodies with paint issues from the chemicals used to make the plastic causing adhesion issues. It basically seeps to the surface and causes peeling or fish eyes etc, normally a light sanding and coat of primer will take care of it. I learned the hard way on a tundra body that peeled right off like it was a piece of cling wrap. It was actually pretty cool because it sort of stayed in shape and I had a partial mold...lol

Also did you get the resistors to go along with the led lights, depending on how to want to wire them you'll need a few different resistors for each group of leds for he correct voltage drop so they don't burn up. I'm sure me of us can help out once we know exactly what you have.

If it helps you feel better, Clint, I like the paint scheme just as it turned out. I think the orange would have clashed just a little to much! I would not be disappointed with the current colors!

On your LEDs, what is most important to figuring out what kind of resistors you need, is the forward current rating of all the LEDs. Typically this is around 20 mili-amps, but if you have a spec sheet, double check it to be sure.

A 2S LiPo pack is going to be 7.4 volts, not 7.2. A fully charged LiPo will probably be even higher, right off the charger. It's not critical, but important, because you don't want to burn out your LEDs.

http://led.linear1.org/led.wiz

Plug your specs into the above calculator, and it will give you what you need to wire them all up. It tells you the resistors needed, and shows a schematic to help you figure out how to wire them. Pretty straight forward stuff. Hope it helps.

My sugestion with lights would be to use a simple 9v battery ran to a battle switch, then count the lights you wanna light and providing they are all the same voltage requirements use the light caulculator and run them in the series they suggest with the resistors. You can still turn them on and off by the remote but yet they will have a secondary power source and not drain your battery or throw off the voltage feeding your MFU.

Thanks Aaron, I was wondering about that. I received a battle switch yesterday and I'm reading on how its supposed to work... looks pretty simple, power in and whatever your running out so basically I just wire all my lghts and have one source going into the switch. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong but that's what it looks like to me.

Sharkey, those are the fender I made that Aaron helped me out with. They fit nice buti just don't know, I have the fenders from John at snp and they are also pretty nice, I bought a set of Russ' s fender hangers but the time and effort I put into making mine I'm just kinda partial to them if you know what I mean. Maybe I'll use John's fenders on a trailer or something.

Thats what I did with my fenders also. I figured if I slotted them I'd have more options for clearance and to either have that dropped look if I wanted or the standard ride height. The needle nose sounds like it will be a fun project to finish out the winter with. I'll have to watch for this build.

What happened to SnP's sellers forum? I'm wanting some more things from him? Maybe I should just give John a call and see if he's still in the fender business cause I'd like a set of single fenders for a pusher axle on my truck.

Nope thats right. Power source in, then your out to whatever your gonna run. Its basic and simple.

Need to finish this thing but had to take advantage of the nice weather and take it out today for a spin to see how it actually performed. Wow what a great hobby we have here.
