Talking Chris-Craft COBRA

Well I finally got around to putting this Dumas kit together. Here is the first pic of the building process. Building a truck is nothing compared to this thing.

Here is what it is supposed to look like when it is done.

Here is where I am at right now.

If any body has any tips on building one of these boats please feel free to share them.

Here are a couple pics of the boats we have been messing with that got back on to this boat kit that I have had sitting around for about a year now.

The boat for the little guy to run.

And my boat which is way to fast for the pool.

Thanks for looking.

Travis

Thanks, this is that one project for me that I have been putting off but I decided if I was going to build it I might as well get started.

Thanks louie this is my first boat kit that I have done. I know it is not perfect but I am learning a lot as I go and if I decide to build another wood boat it should go a lot easier. I have also been lucky enough that one of the regulars at the hobby shop I go to has built some boats before and he has given me some good advice so far.

Here are a couple more pics of the progress.

Thanks to all for looking.

I am not using any thing special other than CA glue and a lot of it. The kit was not a bad price it is just the $50 spent on CA and kicker.

Travis- Did you track down the West epoxy and some lightweight glass? Check RCgroups section on boats. There are several guys there building woodies that win awards at Toledo show. Really fantastic work. Check the Thunderbird and Gar Wood Speedster threads. They make me want to build a boat except in Scottsdale there aren't many lakes.

Fhhhstix-I noticed in some of the framing pics that the stringers are not making good smooth curves but that is part of the building process. You have to correct some of the factory mistakes. I always enjoyed building wood boats and did it for a long time. The boat looks good with the planking on and I will follow this build. Nice job!!
