Default International Harvester Farmall 1256 (1967-69)

This tractor has already shown up in a few pics as background clutter for my Cockshutt 70 build. It's an old 1/16 Ertl toy.
Not going to be anything too exotic: gearmotors, nimh, 2 ch, keeping it in 'work clothes', probably adding some lights.

International-Harvester Farmall 1256 Turbo. Was available as either 'standard' (wide front) or 'row-crop' (narrow front). Part of the "56" series, it has a 6cyl turbo-diesel. These could be had with Open operator with fenders, 2-post ROPS, and several cab options.
I really like as it sits with Dual wheels, 'ice cream box' cab, front bar for suitcase weights

Drag it out of the tree row

Let's start cleaning up those axles, and get the tires ready to go to town

Thanks jerry, this one should go a little quicker since i already kinda know the recipe. (Plus it's got a Turbo)

Did the usual drill some rivets and stuff until parts stop touching. Hacked off the old axle tubes, wallow it out until you can slide in gearmotors. This time we're playing with CA glue and Baking Powder to mount them to the tractor half.

To run wide dual wheels and clear the cab, ertl put on a spacer, then had both rims the same way toward the tractor. Not 'right' or pretty, but i liked the width, and it's about what we'll get with these motor axles. Plus it's gonna be wide enough i should be able to really back up some traffic!

Some shaft couplers, rod, and solder gets me a really long brass 'wheel to gearmotor adapter mount thing'. Turn it down to size that looks about right, glue in wheels.

Then i can run it so on each side we have a wheel set Wide and Narrow. With no ugly Toy wheel stiffener ribs showing.

Before i get too crazy i need to order parts to rebuild front Axle, and probably some suitcase Weights, and other small details from https://dakotahtoyparts.com

I like how those gear motors fit in there. Very clean looking!

Thanks tgrzes! i really like the look of these even if they're still a lot bulkier than the toys cast hexagonal axle tubes of the real machine. With some paint, they seem to camoflage into the machines pretty well.

Electronics plan:
20ga130D012 dc12v 50rpm gearmotor - 2 ---- Nope, these are wrong ----
Kastar 1600 mAh nimh - 6 (2x3 triangle pack)
Mg90s (knockoff) servo
Hobbypower 10A esc

This machine will build off the Right half since that's where the exhaust stack hole, and battery casting are. Layout is probably looking something like this

After some head scratching, i think I'll drop the Charge plug out between cab and 'battery' as a male micro jst plug (since it looks like a tiny Anderson Powerpole and makes sence for using with a really good set of jumper cables around the farm). Then i'm thinking a horizontal switch for Charge/Run under the 'battery', and a vertical switch for Esc On/off forward of that.

Unless it changes?

---
Uh, pretty sure i grabbed the wrong gear-motors off the shelf. I said these were 12v 50rpm, but on the other tractor it says i used some 12v 200rpm.
The worst part of it all, is that I never learned how to read!

Sorry everyone, i was too early starting this thread.
These might keep you busy while i'm trying to find the right gearmotors

Farmer Rock Anthem (Party Rock Anthem)

Cropdusters (Ghostbusters theme)

These aren't worth a real update

How to look more 'Tractory'. But i'm probably not going past using weathering juice just to look greasy/oily
https://www.scaledracula.com/country...-3-weathering/

So these are ''20D'' gearmotors. Available with 130 or 180 motors, i'm using 130s to keep tractor width about the same as pre-conversion.
I had ordered 12v because that's what That Jungle website had at the time. It doesn't have the torque since i'm under-volting. Plus i think i may have a bad esc since when i dropped it into a wagon and it's giving smooth power 1 way, and weird fluctuating power the other.

Polulu has good spec sheets and looks like the Carbon Brush can take higher torque than Precious Metal.
