Great job Reg. With that much power you will probably be able to ride on the trailer yourself. I don't think it will have any problem with traction either, after seeing it dig holes like that.

Just saw the video and the wheel hub update. An amazing build and the size of this thing! Wow! Looking forward to more.

Thanks for the compliments. I spent a little time making the mounts for the tanks and finished up the hitch today. I also may have driven it around the shop floor for a while.

I decided that I wasn't finished working on the 850 for the day and went back into the shop... I cut out and welded up the V notch for the trailer reach.

Thanks for lookin!

RCP57-this is some nice work on a really unique truck. The video looks good with lots of power. I don't really understand the "turntable" on the back. I have never seen this before. Can you explain what it's for. Enjoying the build.

The turntable supports the logging bunk. Rollers on the bunk contact the turntable and help stabilize it. The real trucks use a 15' wide bunk and with 100 plus tons of logs on the truck and trailer it has some serious twist. The 18" piece of square tube sitting on the turntable represents the scale width of the bunk.

WOW, this is a piece of art, Reg! really looking good on the photos, should have a "normal" truck sitting side by side to see how big this KW is. When looking at the video it looks going a little fast, is there a 2nd gear in the transmission?
What would you say have been the hardest part on this model, guessing the rear axles.
Will you have a sound unit inside?

Dan, when I put my Mack Granite back together I will snap a picture of them side by side. Yes the trans has two speeds. I the video when it is going quite slow it is in low. I think this speed is pretty good but high is much too fast. I need to ditch the esc that's in it too. It isn't very smooth in forward and doesn't perform well at low speed.

Yes I would say that the axles were the hardest thing so far. My mill breaking down part way through didn't help! I'm still not convinced that they will stand up to the weight without welding the gears onto the shafts but I hope they do.

I'm not sure if I will do a sound module because they don't make any that sound like a 12V71 Detroit. I did ask on the forum a long way back about it and some guys said that you could have them made if you could provide a sound clip but that sounds expensive. I have been following the thread on the smoke generators though and I think I have enough room under the hood to fit one in.

Thanks to everyone who follows this build!

Wow, what a work of art Reg! I enjoyed the video. What a great feeling it is to see something moving around under it's own power. That's awesome. I'll bet you feel really good about it! Nothing like running a model you've just built, for the first time. More so if you've scratchbuilt everything yourself, including the axles! It's a fine looking model, that's for sure. Are you going to paint it red, or yellow?

Hey Reg, I thought somebody posted a link last year for a German sound unit, that had 2 stroke sound, I'll have to see if I can find it next month, after my
Otr stint.
Cheer's, Neil.

Thanks guys. I was pretty happy to see it rip around for the first time!

That would be great if you could find that Neil. I would love to have the Buzzin Dozen sound under the hood!

Yeah Lou, my Dad checks out my progress quite often. When I'm at thier place using the lathe my mom always asks what I'm building her... I guess thats a bit of a hint hey? I think they are both impressed and wonder where I get the patience from. Neither one really says too much they just look at the stuff and smile(I'd like to think their proud haha) I don't really think I am patient at all though. If I was I would be happy to take years to build something. For me I think my lack of patience drives me to build faster and dedicate myself more to each model.
