Default Need help with ertl rc tractor from the late 70s-early 80s

The tractor runs by itself unless i pull the trigger backwards and then it stops. The weird part is sometimes it does this and sometimes it runs completely normal. Any ideas of what it could be? Its a early 1970s- 1980s ertl john deere 1/16 scale tractor with pistol grip radio.

It sounds like the 4640 running on 27 or 49mHz.....those boards go bad, everything in there is analog. There arnt any contacts in the tractor and prolly not any in the radio either. Its all pots and diodes. Unless one is an electrical engineer........

Rip out the existing wiring and install a 2-channel radio, using the existing motor for drive and installing a small servo for the steering (taking out that existing analog servo)

Post up a pic....i suspect it has pressed-on wheel retainers and you will need to use vise grips to pull those off. Check behind decals for hidden screw as well too.
