Awesome job. Smooth as silk. I looked at both videos, guess there is a little tweaking to do?? It'll be nice to see it in some loose dirt; watch it roll up a nice windrow.

Thanks guys for the kind words. Yes,i have a little tweeking to do and learn how to drive it . I only have one switch that is spring-loaded. It would be nice if all the controls were, but I am happy that i have gotten this far. I may get a chance this wknd to put it in some loose dirt and see what happens.

Again, thanks all!

Learning to drive is difficult, but soooo much fun

As you saw, I modified my transmitters' controls for my grader, maybe you could do something similar (it's really not difficult).

But what do you mean with "switch" - aren't you operating most of the functions with proportional sticks?

Cheers
Jens

Jens, I am using an Airtronics 10G.....U can assign the functions to any channel that suites your desire. Here is how I have mine cnfigured:

Elev stic=circleboard rotation
Aile stic=Steering
Rud stic=Pump
Thr stic=Throttle

8 different (3 pos switches) that are mixed with the rudder channel to control the pump. The pump only operates when I move a selected function.
Of those 8, only one is spring-loaded....the others are on-stop-on

Ah, okay, I understand now: No proportional control on those channels.
I guess you could solder in different switches, but the Airtronics is a bit too expensive to just try it...

rc farmer-I really like the way this model turned out and the detail work is just incredible. I enjoyed the videos also. I have a question for you or anyone who can answer it. What is the advantage of leaning over the front tires while scraping? I have watched scrapers work and doing this but I never knew why.

The wheels lean to counter act the blade pushing the front tires sideways,"Lean into the work" It also makes it easier to turn tighter.

Wheel lean helps counter act side draft or force from the moldboard.
Lean the wheels toward the heel or lagging end in most grading.
Look around and you will see people who are clueless on a grader.
Think of it as digging in your heel to fight the tug of war, dragging your toes doesn't work
As well. Later, Neil#2 aka doodlebug.

Incredible machine! VERY nice work.

It very realistically simulates the full scale machine in both form and function. It will be a treat to see it push dirt.

When I presented my grader model at a recent show here in England, the most common question was "Do the wheels lean?" And I said "Yup!" =)
So, obviously people notice it as something characteristic - and I was glad that I had decided to realise this function on the model.

The Cat Personnel have been very supportive. The want to put a write-up in the compnay news letter. I am also planning a trip to the 14M factory down in Little Rock, which is about 2 hrs from me. I think that will be exciting.

It's time to start the testing phase. I noticed the discussion about the blade and the circle board being able to hold. Mine will have to cut loose dirt....as i used the same setup on the worm gear.....only difference is my box is made of wood. When i find me another machinest, i will get the gearbox made correctly.
