Long paint curing times have majorly slowed me down so disappointed with how long i've had to wait, even still parts are dry but if handled too long will leave a mark.
All painting done in my loft which is dry and about room temperature, it even has a window which gets direct sun light through it

Anywhere here's where I've got too still loads to do

Nice model and will be a good runner I think.
This type of valve is under concideration for my rebuild now. Anyone that can get feedback how they perform.
What size of pump did you go for?

Worked perfectly in my machine with the pump supplied by Fumotec, its exactly the same valves which he use in the 490 except made of steel instead

Only valves I'll use, haven't had any problems with those valves and pump. A lil' pricey but superior quality!! I'm sure you will find out

It lives again! Only really the cab and stickers to finish it of. I have some of the smaller detailed parts like hand rails to fit if i decide to put them on or not?

Kind of hard to get a picture of the rotating bucket but here it is

I had a terrible time with paint, it never really cured and could chip off with the slightest knock. So after much thought I decided to strip it and repaint it using an airbrush instead of spray cans.
So far I’m really glad that I’ve done it, there was things I wasn’t happy with the first time round so this has given me a chance to repair/fix these which will hopefully improve the machine. Anyway it slowly goes back together. Still loads more painting to be done

Looking good Calum

Have you used it lots?

And yeah, how's that rotary screener working for ya?

liftmys10 - thanks I'm super happy with how its turning out.

Joe - sadly I have not used it since I originally painted it! Disgraceful I know I will aim for completing it this year for some summer digging.
I cant comment on the screen either, as its yet to touch any dirt...

Been distracted building and painting other trucks, but I should be back to this soon enough

A screener showed up in the mail Friday, pretty simple bit of kit to put together, Frank does good work.

Note to self - Do not try and paint 2 projects at once!

A shed load of sanding, filling, primer, paint, anger, more sanding, more filling, more painting and some clear coat later progress is being made!

Currently down to the last 4 main items, everything else is hanging up curing and waiting to be fitted. Alongside a Tamiya Scania which i'm building

Finally the painting comes nearly to an end, only the cab and interior parts left to do

Assembly begins, far easier this time around as I know what parts I struggled with the last time - these hose fittings were a nightmare before because I installed the hard pipes then put the plastic hose on. Trying to tighten these connectors without damaging anything was near impossible.

Better results this time

Looks great in the new paint

I love the tiny castle nuts, are the bolts crossdrilled yet?

Thanks, really happy with it. Its not perfect but trying to a flawless finish in your house is near impossible, you've never seen dust like it until that clear coat goes on

Yes drilled already, waiting on some 1mm split pins to turn up

A little more done tonight

Started of with the hard pipes - the screws that hold the pipes on was a nervous job, trying not to scrape any paint but I got away with apart from a little mark.

Then all the pivot holes cleaned out from paint, the ram was put into its place and the stick mounted to the boom

Well it lives again

Everything connected up, oil in the tank, bled it up and checked for leaks - so far the only one was a return pipe to the tank which was a quick fix.

I've been painting interior parts in the meantime - a mixture of airbrushing and hand painting

Also last weekend got the final coats of yellow on the door and cab, those were clear coated and left to harden up. I've given them a light grey colour inside. Next job will be to glue the windows in and mount the door

And yesterday it was time to test it out, just some light digging whilst I set pump speeds and pressures. I mainly just wanted to see how a trial went, lasted nearly 1 hour on a 5000mah battery which I'm happy with
Then as the battery was coming to an end my swing stopped working soooo thats was the end of that, packed up and back on the bench I removed the motor and gears to find a grub screw loose... A dob of Loctite and back in it goes!
