Default Azonic Hitachi 470/Bell B50D

Hello everyone!

Im Kalle from Sweden, i got invited to this site in january by Greg (Losiassociated), i checked it out but then totally forgot about it!
But yesterday i found my way back and registerd!

Oh well, i have looked around and **** there is alot of talented builders on here, i sat yesterday and just drooled for several hours, amazing what talent some people have.

So on to my equipment i got for about 1 year ago, i do not have the machines/knowledge to make equipment like this from scratch so i had to buy to get them.

I got the Hitachi 470 from Vario late last summer and the Bell dumper on spring this year.
I Just got the new trackdrive done for the 470 and it made a huge difference for the tracks, just need to paint it.

The Bell is not done yet, its at the painter at the moment and i hope i get it back soon.

Here is some pics and some videos..

470 with the new trackdrive.

Welcome Kalle, I've been following your thread over on scale 4x4 for a while now. Glad you could join us here. I like the construction of your excavator. The final drives give me some ideas for a small build I'm planning soon.

Hello Kalle, good to see you here & have your fine workmanship displayed here on this forum as well.

It's great to view your new undercarriage and see 1st hand the proper speed of these new planetary gh motors we special bought. Thanx for sharing.

And I like your new wide link tracks... I've got a few ideas to work at this winter to improve the narrower track link that I have to correct the issue of skipping off a track while turning.

Sometime October maybe I'll tear down my 850 to install my upgrade parts as well... I'm pretty sure my machine shop guy is too busy with harvest repair jobs to fit in my toy repair job into the mix atm.

I'm pretty sure my machine shop guy is too busy with harvest repair jobs to fit in my toy repair job into the mix atm. Currently, I have recently aquired & installed a Servomaut S20 esc for the swing & it's no better than any other esc I have tried to fix the jerky swing motion.
Thanks Joe!

Yes the new track motors with the gearing we choose seems to be perfect, im really happy with it right now.

The new wide tracks and sprocket seemed to cure the problem with the tracks coming off, that happend quite often before, hope you can fix yours, otherwise just go with the new tracks, you wont be dissapointed!

Ohh so there is a solution for the swing problem in the works? It would be awesome to get rid off that jerky swing on slopes and such.

I actually tought it was the motor that was going to fast for its own speed and cusing it to jerk when going downhill on a slope.

How would this be done, a motor sitting on top with the shaft directly to the axle for the swing gear in the undercarrige?

Like this?

Or like this standing up?

Im very intrested in this Joe, hit me up with a PM when you have more info pls!

Thanks!

Yes i think so, hopefull i can keep them for a good while!

A little update, not much but something!

I tought about the bucket today thinking it always looked so old school and boring so i wanted to make it look more like a new style bucket, it was also hard to pick up rocks and get them in the bucket, i think this will help.

I took some measurements and cut out a bit on the bucket, turned out really good i think, much better then before, should be able to carry about as much mass as before anyway.

Before.

A simple alteration for better function.

I see your teeth are looking a bit dull, digging too much rock!

How are the pins fixed in place on your Vario bucket? Epoxy?

The ripper tooth works xllnt! Thanx buddy.

Haha! Yes there been some rock digging, actually where i dig there is a mix of garvel, rocks and soil so i guess it wears a bit, but thats just scale, right?

I fixed my pins with LockTight 638 ("Cylindrical fixing", spelling?) seem to work fine so far.

Glad the ripper is a good helping hand for you down there, that clay look sticky!

Will watch your new vid later today!

Now back to work.
Keep it up Joe!

My dragline bucket teeth look about the same after 80+hrs of digging in sandy soil. Mine are made from C1018 cold finish steel. The milling machine marks wore off the first weekend out digging and the edges rounded some. I guess we need to make some tougher replaceable teeth for these so called TOYS

My teeth are still relatively sharp after digging in this wet clay, but I'm sure that'll change quickly when I start digging in the hard dry clay this winter. Replaceable hardened teeth is an awesome idea Steve, I think you just got yourself some new work.

Great video Kalle, looks like you're still enjoying some warm sunny Fall weather like I am.

The new shape of the bucket looks good & seems to be helping with scooping rock.

Has there been any issue at all any more with skipping a track with your new style tracks & wheels?

I sure like the speed your hoe travels now. I hope to do my upgrade soon.

Thanks Joe, i really like the sunny fall days, not to hot and not to cold, perfect!

Yes i like the new shape of the bucket, looks better and works better overall.

I havent had one single issue yet with the tracks, they have worked flawless this far, make sure to really locktite all the grub screws on the bevel gears and sprockets, some of my screws had come loose due to too little locktite used.
Other then that its perfect, you will be happy!

I have slowed the tracks down even a little more, now it feels good, also slowed the pump down a bit on my mixers, as well as the swing.
