Default Hello from Corpus Christi Tx

Howdy all, I recently got the RC bug and am trying it out. My first purchase was a king hauler and a Grizzly 6 x 20 milling machine. I took a couple of machining and welding classes in college while I was studying mechanical engineering(Texas Tech University) which have helped out quite a bit so far.

For my day job, I work as a quality manager for a company that builds offshore oil rigs. It is kind of ironic, I work with thick heavy material all day at work and then come home and drill/tap tiny holes in tiny pieces of material

Anyway, this is a great forum with lots of good information and I'm glad to be here. I would post pics of my KH build but I don't want to be "that guy" that posts photos of a start of a build and does not finish.........

So far I have milled some stretched frame rails from flat bar and machined a custom cab mount so I could raise the motor/tranny a bit for more ground clearance. I currently have a rolling day cab chassis with nothing on the rear end, I'm thinking gin pole truck but we shall see............aside from building stuff, I like salt water fishing, target shooting, beach bumming and grabbing gears in my (new to me) 2014 corvette

Mech Eng. Welcome - from one engineer to another, glad your here. Your day job sounds interesting and i'm sure you bring a flavor most of us know nothing about.

Don't be skeptical about starting a thread. We all have that long term build.

Welcome and we hope you have fun.

Welcome to the forum. Glad to have you.

Start a build thread... Take your time and add to it when you can. Then read the comments and suggestions left by others and respond back. You'll be surprised by the ideas that get tossed around in the thread. Your build may change mid-way as ideas come and go. It's a real learning opportunity for all involved. It's GREAT!!

Have FUN!!

Hey welcome bud, I like corpus Christi I we there as a kid, we had a federal drug case my dad's truck was involved in and we spent a week there resolving the issue in court. Seems one of my dad's drivers was approached in a bar and paid $25k to use the truck and trailer, "they" took the truck and brought it into Mexico with the driver driving it in. Stuffed the entire hvac ducts of my father 1985 Pete 359 with 100+ pounds of marijuana and then had a mule or hired Mexican drug runner drive the truck and trailer back into the us where it was caught. All over the weekend when the driver was supposed to be resting at the hotel and getting ready to load produce Monday morning and head back to nj. He figuerd "it isn't my truck, and I can make a fast $25k". This was back in 1990 or 1991.

Thank you all for the kind welcome. I just got a photobucket account so my first project post should be soon......

BRICKNICK - that kind of stuff still happens today.... A co-worker of mine recently had some bales of marijuana wash up on the beach near where he was camped. He got out of there as quickly as he could, those Mexican cartels don't play!
