If the esc is hot that means you have some current flowing thru the system. Theres no sound at all when you plug in the battery? I believe there should be a series a musical beeps indicating it is on, then a series of consistent beeps indicating how many cells the lipo battery is.

Id be wondering what is drawing enough current to make the esc hot while nothing is happening, maybe a locked up drivetrain and a shorted out drive motor or something similar? If you fried a esc that might be the one supplying the RX with voltage via BEC circuit, which means nothing will work at all if the RX doesnt have any power. With that being said, also check to make sure the TX is bound to the RX

Pull the hot esc off the rx and see if the rest of it works.

Kinda sounds like both esc had its internal bec powering the rx, and new battery had more power and smoked the bec in one / both esc.
