Im useing 1mm wire at the moment but have several different nozel sizes.
would usualy tig most of the time as I can weld better with it and less chance of burnning my shed down.

and as for he dogs, they are lucky they are alive either way.
just got back from a four hour round trip to get another spa cover .

cheers andy

Yeah, I use 035" wire in my 200amp mig to do my various farm welding tasks, that's a bit smaller than 1mm. The smaller 023" wire takes less voltage to melt & splatters a lot less too... so what do you use the big wire for?

Really enjoying the updates on the crusher, its really taking shape

Do you have any pictures of the jaw setup? I'm thinking to make something similar and I was wondering how to attach the jaw at the bottom?

What speed are you going to run the jaw at?

Hey joe. I use the mig to do structual things, roll cages, chassis mods.
what ever the guys need. Running high amps and a good sized wire is more forgiving on heavier structual steel.
I used to race off roaders running a turbo charged subaru engine , did pretty good but now its time to spend more time at home.
broke too many bones racing cars and bikes.
I still look at the trophies and think I could be the ledgend again, but the cold mornings remind me im not 20 years old any more.
Would rather help the young crowd and try and pass on a bit of advice.

I do love my small 3 in one tig/ plasma cutter/ stick welder awesome for most jobs, just need some more gass.

ok , colour choice for the truck, real simple.
checked cabinet for spray paint, only had black.
so truck is black.
also sprayed dump in the aluminium.
need to start fitting some exhausts ect to break up the black.
Ive sprayed most of the chrome bits in aluminium paint , and it dosent look too bad.
the steps ect that came with the truck were all corroded and needed painting, also when I make up the hydraulic oil tank that will get the aluminium to match.

fresh out of the paint shop

I think it looks great ! correct me if I'm wrong... Your putting this rig to work! Not trying to win a beauty contest right? Function before fashion!
Can't wait to see it hauling.

cheers , its defiantly no beauty queen, but it aint too ugly

got a bit more done due to average winter weather, sprayed the plastic chrome parts in aluminium that I will be using and fitted.
I don't know whats on the windows but nothing takes it off so may have to order some new glass.
I will make some exhausts and air filters ,I also made a start on the trailer.
cant do much more until my wheels and axel turn up,

heres a picture update

Andy,

Looks good to me. Are those extra parts you had left over for the pup chassis? I am trying to figure out how and what to put under my tonka dump trucks.

Cheers jim.
the rails are old air filter frames.
ive just cut them down to the size I need and bolt together.
they are pretty close to the same size as tamyia truck rails.
its amazing what you find in the rubbish bins.

Hi calum.
dont have any pictures of the crusher plate.
what I did to fix the bottom was drill and tap some 6mm holes at the bottom of the crusher plate.
I then used some 6mm bolts ( quite long) and put some heavy compression springs in between the plate and crusher box.adjusted lenght of spring to get correct angle on plate.
you will have to slot these holes through the box to allow a little up and down movement
job done.

Okay I think I understand what you mean, any idea what speed you will be running it at?

Hi calum.
un decided yet , have a 1200 rpm motor fitted but still waiting on belts for drive.
it appeared to work with battery drill on main fly wheel at around 400 rpm.

thats why I will power conveyors and crusher drive off power supply, so I can adjust on the fly to tune it with the material im running..

Cheers andy

Did you make yours like a cam? So it moves like this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5b0557iAbP8

Or did you just offset the bar so it pushes against the crusher plate and pivot it at the bottom?

Hi calaum. Thats exactly how I made mine.
I found several animated videos on youtube and copied the design.
I have a shaft drilled off center that the plate attaches to, two bearings in crusher housing .
I threaded the shaft and used 6mm bolts to hold weights to shaft.
You will need to drive the crusher in the right direction , so the motor tightens to bolts on the pully.
other wise pully will disappear across the room rather quickly.
dont ask me how I know this LOL.

the truck is alive.
had to remove the original gear box and fit a geared motor to give me more room in the cab.
sound card is now fitted and really happy with the polou motor.
can drive all day long with 5 plus kgs in the tipper.
I think the pump is straining a little ,but it still lifts at the same speed if its full or empty. don't know that that is normal?
just a quick test video

got motivated to finnish off truck, and made a start on trailer.

heres a few progress pictures.

pump in and running, home made stainless tank holds just enough oil.

cant fit cab to rails as too much inside, had to swap gear box for a geared motor, so printed up a motor housing and fitted sound modual under battery plate, speaker fits nicely in front grill.

the bones of a trailer

some metal skin makes it look better

an idea of what it will look like

almost there

and this is all anyone will see trying to pass me going up hill

cheers andy

trailer now has a bit of colour.
pump fits nicely between chassis rails, so now have to make a tank to sit in behind the pump.
I will use a deans plug fitted to the back of the truck so i can plug in the trailer.
the esc for the pump will live in the cab.

heres a few wet paint picts.
PS the coffee cup is to hold me and the trailer up as its 3am

cheers andy
