Got the new motor mount installed. Once everything is together it will be better looking. Also moves the motor back towards tranny, eliminates the wobble from having the driveshaft extended so far. Next is to solder up connections and find out if it actually is a better drivetrain.

a rather shaky video , I was trying to hold camera and controller at same time. I still have to do some fine tuning on radio to smooth it out but new motor combo is working better.

Nice to see it moving cooper-I know you have a lot left to do but do you have a way to make the diff more like a limited slip set up? Looks really good so far!!

yes, at the moment I have no oil in the diff so it slips pretty easily. everything is just pieced together for testing. with such a big model I definitely need the slip and am planning on using some thick diff oil/grease. the one thing that bothers me is the driveshaft, even new it has some slop in it and I'm sure that is going to be the weak link in the drivetrain. may have to revisit that part, find something with closer tolerances or make one.
oh, and in the video when it does slip the camera doesn't show it but it was trying to climb about 40 degree angle on loose uneven dirt. I want it to be able to climb around 30 degree roads fully loaded. I don't know what haul truck are capable of climbing loaded but that's what I'm shooting for.

Cooper try these guys. I put three axis on my mill and so far I'm really pleased with them
Here's a link to there site and you'll be pleased with the cost, and they're allready made for mill or lathe application.

Thanks rob, that's helpful!!

Ok , starting on the double acting telescopic cylinders. I have no plans just some ideas kicking around in my head. I'll try and post pics as I build them.

Oh and I got a new garage, had to make things somewhat even with the other half, she got a new mouser!!

This is going to be the bottom/first stage of the cylinder. Oil port for retracting and the tube will extend to the top of first stage for extension. They will be welded together(I think). Steel is definitely easier than alum. The tubes are stainless and all areas where seals will be are going to be made from steel. Easier for the internal grooving tools I have.

Got the first stage seal caps done, these will get drilled for first stage rod, figure attach them then drill and groove. Will keep everything on centerline.

All small parts are turned, next is to weld them together and get exact lengths of tubes.

Still waiting on gas guy to hook up gas line then I can push ditch closed. And waiting on trees to be delivered (been too dry to dig um) then the stone wall can start being built. That is when the real 1:14 work will begin.

Got second to third stage seal done. Figured it the biggest diameter to start with. A little tight so I may have to readjust my tolerances. No real info on how much to compress 1/16 o rings for rated pressure.

A better picture showing one done and the other in pieces before hole and welded

Great work with the cylinders) There should be info at the web concerning groove tolerances to found. I would also keep in mind not have the o-rings too thigh with concern to the dead weight of the dump box must be able to push the cylinders back in 'easily'
