Now I have got a photobucket account running so guess I can share more photos.
During last week I discovered a problem with the ripper attachment. When making the drawing for ripper, I took mesurments from a D8N but the upper part like fuel- oiltank and cab is from a D8R. Main difference between those models is that R-model has larger fuel tank and a new design on ripper attachment.
With my mix, upper cylinders hits the tank when ripper is up.

So lessen learn: never mix between different 1:1 machines.
I will make new drawing on brackets with new position for upper cylinders. At same time lower part will be redesiged to the clever solution of coupling my friend has. This will make it possible to have most of the drawbar mounted. In real live it´s foldable when not in use.

Yes, I have had some contact with "dozernerd" and the videos was nice, don´t know why they have been removed. Sorry because he has a good looking model that´s working well. He did use a 6hp petrol engine with generator and electric drive (maybee Cat got the idee to D7E from this model?)

Did build a carrier today to transport the D8 out of the house (no, will not be able to run it out, have wooden floor that gets bad). My workshop is located in ground floor but have a 2 step outside so needs a ramp to!
It is designed to take everything except front blade and arms.

Your rails for your tracks are cool did you machine those out or did you buy a small set for something else?

This is another great build can't wait to see this push some dirt it certainly isn't lacking for weight. Well let me see if I sell the excavator and the dozer and the loader I could get me a little OC3 Oliver to play with in the back yard I wonder if thew manager of the complex will mind. Ed

Thanks guys for the responce!
No it´s not ready yet, have a lot of work to do before it can be started but will post a video as soon it´s running.
The tracks was designed in CAD to try to find a simple solution that looks like the real ones. The problem is that all commercial available chains has drive pin centered but a CAT chain has it a little offset. Well it´s a small detail but I decided that it was important for me at that time, today I have had gone a easier way.
Guess that finding suitable chain/tracks are as hard as finding tyres that can be used. To my 463 I found wheels with almost right dimension but of course with wrong pattern (I can live with that).
The parts are laser cut in 3-4-5mm steel, all parts mounted in a holder to be spotwelded and then the assembly goes inte a own to be brazed together (thats the color you can see between parts).
Each assembly is connected with a roller and 2 insex screws (next part is swiveling aroud the screw head. There will be some wearing on the parts but I think it will last for me (or I have to make new parts).
They still misses the 4 screws that should hold the plate, will be added later, but they have no function, only for the look.

Very nice. I like the way you mortised the vertical piece onto the grouser plates. That definitely saved you hours of machine time. I guess you TIG welded them on and put a small tack on the ends and ground it down. What kind of steel is that? It looks like stainless

Heres an idea for your tracks. They dont look scale but they would work. Use attachment chain then rivet the treads to it.
