Default 1/14 TAMIYA King Hauler Dump Truck 6X6 chassis (Russia)

Hello, dear friends! I want to build a dumper. I took a truck tractor - 1/14 Tamiya King Hauler. First I built a chassis of 6x4. Now I will build a chassis 6X6.

I like the idea of a 6X6 dump truck. How did you get the (looks like a standard Tamiya gearbox) Tamiya transmission to power the front wheels?

This chassis is 6X4! Here is the gearbox 1/14 Tamiya. For a 6X6 chassis, I used a gearbox 1/10 Tamiya Toyota Tundra 4X4.

The Toyota gearbox, is it a 3 speed like the King Hauler gearbox?

Skeeter! I will make detailed photos soon and show you everything. The dimensions of the gear boxes 1/14 Tamiya trucks and 1/10 Tamiya Toyota Tundra are the same.

Me too! Always interested in ways people go for a live front axle.

I have two types of leading front axles - "1/10 Tamiya Toyota Tundra" and "1/18 Tamiya TLT-1". I installed the front drive axle "1/18 Tamiya TLT-1". The differentials for these two bridges are the same - 40/15. Differential of the middle and rear drive axle "1/14 Tamiya truck" - 40/15.

Thank you so much, TheBennyB!

In order to build a dump truck I used a Tamiya 1:10 Toyota Tundra High Lift 4005126 (4005127) Chassis Frame L (R).

A couple of things:
1) you need the truck kit shocks on at least one axle of the tandem so the axles don't over articulate & the dog bone between them falls out.
2) your tie rod on steering axle should be behind axle for correct steering geometry, Google Ackerman principal.

Thank you very much, Ditchdigger! I got it. I'll do everything as you wrote.

I can not understand what it is? - "truck kit shocks". Shock absorbers?!!! (Damper, absorber, bumper, buffer, snubber, dashpot).

Shock absorber. Your pic in last post shows the stock version... But the last pic, as well as your own build, the frame rails are upside down, not certain the hole position in frame for shock absorber will correspond correctly too.
