Default The Globe Called "Adamantium"

Hi guys heres my globe im building. possibly not as sharp as a lot of the gear here on the forum but im pretty proud of it.
It starts here...

I went for "Ice Aluminium" as the base color.

Super singles, drop visor, a set of gaurds from the garden, bigger stacks and a mock up of how I wanted it to look stretched out..

Carved out the mirrors, drilled 2 holes in each, you can guess what for.....

Standard Globe decals used, I was going to airbrush the cab but the vision I had for this truck called for me to "keep it simple"

Hey.... ya gota have the right power plant right?

Testing Testing.......

That's it for now guys.... Let me know what you think.

Wink Re: The Globe Called "Adamantium"

Thanks for the kind words guys, im getting happier and happier with the truck the more I do to it....

So ive done a little more to it...
the 27 l.e.d's on the texas bumper are done,
all but the 3 centre cab lights are going, I still have 6 to put in the grill, and 2 blue l.e.d's inside the cab lighting up the interior.....

Got most of the chassis done but still a lot left to do, I was thinking about putting blue pin stripes on the guards but Im not sure there's a lot of blue back there. Any ideas guys?...

all lights now ablaze, still got the grill to do, and the back of the sleeper, along with a few others but you'll have to wait for those pics

well until next time guys..... thanks again and happy trucking

Looking great... Looks like an old school rig with some modern touches. Plenty of light to run at night!

Thanks truckerjo I appreciate the comments... Ive not seen anyone use ice white l.e.ds before and I wanted to be different. Total l.e.d count for this truck will end up being somewhere around the 114 mark lol Can anyone say "cluck cluck its a chicken truck" I'll be doing some more tonight so more pics coming in the next day or so.....

Ok guys here we go....
So I had a little melt down the other night, I accidently put the soldering iron down in the wrong place and melted my beautifully prepared looms for all them pretty lights, I said words like "oh goodness!" and "holy cow!" and a few other select things....
I also may have accidently dripped glue on my micro switches that control my whole system and had to replace them. can you say "im a doofus"

so after a few repairs heres what we have back working... Cab, Mirrors and bumper still no grill yet.

I fitted 10 in the back of the sleeper, and 2 bezels in the middle. If you look closely you can see the l.e.ds through the exhaust shroud...

Oh wait let me help you.....

Ive got a couple other things to do this weekend but i'll post pics of that probably on Sunday...
Cheers guys.

Oh I forgot.... I keep getting asked why I called the truck "Adamantium"..
"Adamantium" is the alloy type substance that was grafted onto the bones of Wolverine in the Xmen movies. if anyone can offer a better name for my build im all ears, any suggestions??

until next time guys...

Hey thanks Tim (: ive not seen the ice leds used before so I was curious, I run white leds on my 1.1 R620 scania at work and decided to give it a shot on my globe. Im really pleased with the results.

Thanks Bigfos, the banner in windscreen is a decal from my local Cummins dealer. I just took to it in a mad scissor frenzy saying to myself, and smiling like a 3yr old with a lollipop, "this is goin to look cool"

Ive been chatting with keith (ffor those newbies like me that want kustom parts, hes a real nice bloke) about one of his beautiful wings for the globe, cant wait to mount that on the roof!!!!

I have a Texas Bumper also. What was the process for getting those led's into the bumper? Resistors? Bulb voltage? Any details would be great. That truck is bad***.

?? for you- how many batteries are you using? With all of those LEDs, you should really light up a layout. No need for anyone else to turn their lights on

Thanks guys. Trucklover the process is really simple mate. I just made up a easy jig to lay the bumper in and hold it firm and basically drill 27 3mm holes with my drill press. The leds fit snug in the holes and only just stick out the front. The resistor really depends on how bright you want your lights to be, I didnt want them brighter than my head lights so ive added 1 resistor to an 8 light circuit. Theres 128 leds on this truck so theres a natural resistance there anyway for the leds, a resistor just gives you piece of mind that you're not going to melt any lights. Im powering all of the lights with a 7.2v 2000mah nimh battery and Ive made a loom that plugs into that battery that branches off to 5 separate looms powering micro switches for my whole system (if that makes sense?)

I dont really like tamiyas lighting unit I find it to restricting so I make my own. That way your ride has a unique you look to it.

I hope ive helped a little mate.

Max.
