Some good online sources would be gardentrucking.com, or rc4wd.com has some stuff, for lights themselves radioshack for LED's, hobbyshops for grain of wheat bulbs, some craft stores also carry some useful odds and ends

Hokay, as someone already has a thread up...

You answered my first querstion about replacements for the Tamiya light casings... the KH roof lights are a tad flimsy... and the mountings tend to strip out easily. Gluing 'em down limits bulb/LED maintenance & positioning. Also the turn signals on the front fenders.

Has anyone measured the voltages that the respective sets/kits use? I ask as I may need to replace a few bulbs. One was mounted badly (one of the turn indicators) and when the assembler glued the lens to the chromed casing, he inadvertantly also glued the casing to the LED! I don't know if I can de-fog the LED sufficiently to retain its usefulness.

One thing I've seen, both online and in the local electronics store, are ~strips~ of surface-mount LED's. If the roof mounts were made right, this strip could be glued at the base of the mount, and be reflected up and out (bouncing 90 degrees from up to forward) for those lights. They could also be used to underlight the semi and trailer. They can be cut in 3-LED strips w/ built-in resistor... or if you are handy, pulled from the strip cheaper than buying SMD ones. I may buy a strip, IF the voltages match... and let ya know.

(been tempted to see if they'll work in my tank lamp casings too... now have twice the excuse to try)

PS: Dinna see any on the makers section, anyone make aluminum replacements for the styrene 'animal guard' parts? Lemme know... hokay?

So... anyone got voltages, or recomendations for nice replacement casings (besides the ones posted)

Thanks,
WhiteWolf
