Default Hobby Engine Crane overhaul

Well ordered the Hobby engine crane a while back ,have had it for a few weeks ,letting my 2 yr old play with it some in his sandbox,he's been giving the slipper clutches a good workout ,lol !!
Will give it a overhaul ,want to build a dragline bucket for it soon , first to go through the model remove the 49 MHz gear, will secure the slipper clutches and try the factory gearboxes to run the spool for the boom, bucket lift.Ordered a few parts so far ,bruder replacement tracks,rc4wd fairlead ,slipring Ordered a small winch from rc4wd for the bucket winch should be in soon.
Have a few pics so far of the breakdown

Well little more progress on the dragline ,got the bucket built ,the tricky part was getting the cable length right for the bucket dump , took a few trys to get it right ,still need more practice on the controls .
Pic of forging the top bar for the bucket
short vid of testing the bucket

Great job! I decided to replace all of the motors and gearboxes but now looking back I should have just eliminated the slipper clutches like you did. I'm just afraid 40ft of skyline is going to just shred those gears. I also really like what you did with the tracks but I am going to try and make all metal ones. Key word there is try

Hey thanks , If your going to use a 40ft skyline ,may want to stay with gearmotors or heavy duty servos ,like I mentioned in the first post ,just going to try the factory gearboxes ,some thoughts on the gearboxes after some run time, the g/box for the boom hoist is fine ,works good there ,g/box for the bucket hoist is kinda ify.. pulls down with to much strain ,may replace it one of these days with a heavy duty servo or gearmotor , g/box for the 360 swing is fine ..for this model .
yea, wish I had metal tracks ,lol !!

Pumptech-your dragline seems to work pretty well. I did notice a bit of "jerkiness" in some of the movements but sounds like you have plans for that. Nice work overall. Did I here real dragline sounds in that? Where did you find that? Neat idea!!
