Default 3D Printed 1/5 Scale 77 Ford F350

Started out as a smaller scale idea, but ended up being more of a test to see the limits to what size I could build something. This is the largest object I have 3d printed, and could obviously be larger depending on the time I had to put into the project.

I first came across the tires which are the largest scale rc tire available at 10" dia and these took me in this direction, so I started to design the rims to fit and went from there.

Body and chassis designed and sliced for printing, over 120 seperate parts which took a few hundred hrs to print, and a while longer to assemble. It's still a work in progress..

Mocking up the suspension. The axles are MOA type from rc4wd and the shocks are HPI Baja shocks. if you need a size reference, that's a 1 gal can propping up the rear end..

I had 2 printers running day and night it seemed for a few weeks, each printing multiple parts together at once.
The hood is removable to reveal a scale engine which is in the works, but as of right now this project is on a shelf, as I've burned myself out a bit and needed a change and have switched over to trying to finish up my Vario.

That is awesome Jason! I wondered what had happened to you but I guess now I know!lol I was tempted to email you a couple of times just to see if you were alive. Great to see that you are building something so unique. I also really like the size of it!

Thanks Reg! Ya I was away for a bit. And this project is a bit off track for me and yes it soaked up a few months of free time. Looking forward to catching back up with what everyone else has been up to as well.

Truck looks OUTSTANDING!! The 3d printing is some of the best I have seen. Looks like it will not take too much filling and sanding to get a great looking body.

Thanks, no I hadn't given it much thought. This is one of those projects I may come back to in a few years when I rediscover interest in it.

I hit a bit of a speed bump when assembling the 4 link suspension, the aluminum rod ends which I got from rc4wd ( the largest I could find) were very poorly made and sloppy enough where the whole truck shimmies back forth due the pressed ball inside the alum eye being too loose. Emailed rc4wd multiple times about it with no response, this took the wind out of my sails and I never progressed any further. Being that it sat idle for so long waiting for some help from them I moved into the next project. So here it sits, just an example of what can be created if you have the time.

Jason, very impressive build. I would love to see this one in action someday. Would a pan hard bar help with the side to side issue due to the loose ball joints? Keep up the great work. Hopefully you won't be off this one to long, would love to see it running.

Hey Keith, I was thinking the same thing you are. That would solve the issue, I was just a bit pissed that these rod ends sucked so much and that rc4wd just ignored the emails I sent. If I get back at this one I will seriously think about something to take up the lateral movement like you suggested, good to hear from you.

I have been drooling on this build on the other forums and am glad to see that you're still on here as well. Looking forward to see what you print up next.
