It's setting on it's own wheels for now. Those plastic Wedico wheels sure are ugly. I have to agree with Nathan the way Wedico mounts the fuel tanks sucks. I used my RcDamper mounts for my King Hauler, they are much better, maybe not 100% scale but much better. They move the fuel tanks down and out. I still need to figure out what I am going to do with the stacks. My progress is going to slow down now as I'm about out of parts for now.

I agree on the mounts...they look much better the way you have them.
Who cares if they are not the exact scale...as long as they improve the over all
stance of the truck,ya know what I mean!

Looks way better, in my humble opinion! I don't know what Wedico was thinking when they more less threw the fuel tanks onto the frame rails with some straps like that. Wedico does offer a plastic tank mount, for those who wonder, but you must buy it separately. It's (Wedico's mount) a small improvement over the strap alone. It's kind of like a plastic version of the RC Damper mounts.

Time for a small update. I always wanted to try a hardwood floor, not perfect but not bad. Also Nathan sold me a 3 speed and I kept my PMD 4:1 reduction. I have some new parts coming in soon from Ric, hope to have another small update soon.

Your driver looks pretty happy with floor, even though he can't really drive anywhere at the moment! Good to see that 3 speed will be useful for you. I can't wait to see what comes in from PMD.

Nice tank pannels and nice details for the cab!
I´ll keep an eye on this for my next procect. ;)
...I bought an old WEDICO conventional for a rebuilt and also thought about a wooden floor...

How does that gear reduction on the right side work? Is it a panetary gearbox or spur gear design...?

Another small update while I'm waiting on parts. I stained my wood floor and added two gear shift levers for The Last Cowboy, now he has something to do.

Here are a few more recent photos. I bought a red cab kit, red sleeper kit and front float tires and aluminum rims. The floorboard was missing from the sleeper kit, have to see about that. The truck is a long, long, long way from the finish line but at least it is starting to look like the truck I want.

For what the cab, sleeper and front tires/rims cost you could buy two King Hauler kits, but this is what I wanted.

Looking good so far! Are those the stock pipes?

Claus 08-11-2011 09:17 AM

Re: HillBilly Deluxe

Michael, those are stock pipes with 3/8" tops slipped over the stock tops. Tamiya Cowboy made me those back when your truck was mine.;)

Looks nice, Craig. It's good shade of red. Still thinking about doing some black fenders and a black cab roof? Two King Hauler kits for the price of the cab and front wheels/tires? Ouch. How do you guys afford these darn Wedicos? :D Oh well, you've got to be pretty happy with the truck and how it looks now.
