Re: 1:14 BMG C308 Excavator improvements
Great looking improvements to the machine!
That pic of the meet layout looks really cramped. Hopefully there was more room to operate stuff on other side of the camera. |
Re: 1:14 BMG C308 Excavator improvements
Only thing behind the camera was a pit area. We had an urban driving experience: Heavy traffic, rough roads, tight corners. Accurately mimicked LA in 1:14 scale.
I skipped RC expo last year. It was huge in comparison. I'm jealous of you east coast guy's real dirt layouts though. |
Re: 1:14 BMG C308 Excavator improvements
It's been a while since I checked in, the last time I tried the site was down - again. That's quite the Sunbelt fleet you're amassing, it's looking good. It's the little intermittent problems that are them most frustrating. Eventually you'll get it beaten into submission.
Thanks for the Palm Beach Bots link, I just ordered their mixer for the RT7R. It's gonna be a while before I can get back to working on that guy, I've got too many renovation projects going on now, garage, front porch.... Good thing I ordered my PPCA tee shirt (Professional Project Collector's Association). Don |
Re: 1:14 BMG C308 Excavator improvements
I'm calling the c308 pretty much done. Leaving the twitch and slightly sticky stick cylinder as is. Going to tidy up the wiring and get some paint on the last few parts.
Getting ready to start my next project. Have a few options, but trying to focus on one. Ok, maybe two would be ok. Perhaps I'm collecting projects too. |

Can't wait to see what you do next. Pardon delay in posting but had some major PC issues with new Win 11 laptop to iron out.

Re: 1:14 BMG C308 Excavator improvements
Thanks Zabco. We operate at a slower pace around here.
Occurred to me i never uploaded a video, so here is a quick one. Color is a little washed out. Stickiness of the stick cylinder is noticeable. https://rumble.com/v70ttgc-rc-c308-e...ydraulics.html I left youtube many years ago and went to Rumble. Same idea, just way less content |
Re: 1:14 BMG C308 Excavator improvements
Sticky cylinder was bothering me. Minor surgery of the boom to fit a larger stick cylinder. Previously had "10mm" Magom (9mm piston) and now has "12mm" (11mm piston). Stocker was 8mm piston iirc.
Boom had to be upsized to 15mm (14mm piston) since it's what I have on hand. No real performance gain although none was expected. Hokey hold down method to cut the boom, but it worked. Big bore cylinder is better. Had to fiddle with the radio settings. Not quite as feathery as the boom motions, but respectable for a low cost machine. https://i.ibb.co/W4FkNpLB/cat-308-67.jpg https://i.ibb.co/gbCC5X5w/cat-308-70.jpg https://i.ibb.co/zWn7V3WJ/cat-308-69.jpg https://i.ibb.co/fPB1ygb/cat-308-68.jpg Now I'm happy. Just gotta paint two cylinders :( |
