Re: dodge L 1000
thanks guys! Here is the update I was talking about, now I dont think their was ever a 1:1 truck with a fuel tank mount like this but it looked good on paper so I made it. Its almost finished aside from some small spacers for the screws that hold the straps on.

Re: dodge L 1000

Re: dodge L 1000
thanks alot guys!
Found an hour to work on this today so here it is! Im sure their has ever been a hexigon tank or air cleaner or what ever this is but I sure like the look of it! and it made for an interesting mount.. an old medicine spoon http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...d/109_0247.jpg http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...d/109_0246.jpg http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...d/109_0245.jpg http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...d/109_0244.jpg also made the frame piece that the tank mount bolts to. http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...d/109_0245.jpg I know I know im a harry dude LOL! |
Re: dodge L 1000
All your hand build parts are making this a great one of a kind build
|
Re: dodge L 1000
Don't worry, real men are meant to be hairy! Great work as always.
|
Re: dodge L 1000
that little truck is gonna have so much detail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Re: dodge L 1000
Great looking detail I like the idea of the baby Med Dropper to that is a great idea.. And the 2 tank strap look much better nice work..
|
Re: dodge L 1000
thanks guys!
TC what is a Med Dropper?? Did some work http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...uild/011-3.jpg http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...uild/012-2.jpg http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...uild/010-3.jpg and as someone said I do plan t drop the fuel tanks a bit.. http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...uild/009-3.jpg they seem to high.. and a question for you guys short http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...uild/014-2.jpg or long?? http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...uild/013-2.jpg |
Re: dodge L 1000
Impressive detail and a unique build. The longer one will look more realistic.
|
Re: dodge L 1000

Thanks, I think so to! Quote:
I do plan to place as much electronics out of the cab as possible so I can make a full interior. I also plan to do a paintjob like you did on yours (but im sure no where as good)where it looks all dirty.. |
Re: dodge L 1000
Moving right along!
built a rear xmember, is it scale to a real rig,,,,**** if I know???but I like the look of it! http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...uild/001-1.jpg http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...uild/002-1.jpg http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...uild/003-1.jpg also lowered the fuel tanks about a 1/4 inch and it looks alot better now.. Also build a deck typy thing for the frame again not sure its to scale but I like it and it will hold a couple of wooden boxes im going to build to hold some old rusty chains and prybars..I willl get started on them in the morning.. |
Re: dodge L 1000
Amazing, the rear xmember looks fantastic. As far as the trailer, I think the longer is better looking.
|
Re: dodge L 1000
Long trailer looks better. Lowering the tanks helped also!!
|
Re: dodge L 1000
thanks Tim! I tell ya paint work is not my strongest area of scale building lol. I will try what you said on the air cleaner and mask it for paint. I personally think the T650 is done perfectly its the first time I have ever seen it done on a semi and its what gave me the inspiration to do it mine.
|
Re: dodge L 1000
Great build!
I think the long trailer looks better - but you could do a short trailer with only one axle and then the proportions would also be very good, I think. |
Re: dodge L 1000
thanks for the input on the trailer guys! I think your all correct so Im building a 23footer.
Not sure if dump trailers are built exactly like this, but I this is how im building mine so if its not scale we will just call it a custom http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...uild/001-2.jpg http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...uild/002-2.jpg http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...uild/003-2.jpg i know it looks a little sloppy but I was in a hurry to go out so.. http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...uild/006-3.jpg http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...uild/005-1.jpg http://i180.photobucket.com/albums/x...uild/009-4.jpg as soon as my 5th wheel and kingpin arrive from joe I will be able to sit the height of the axle mounts..So I will just keep working on the ther rail and the crossmembers till it shows up.. |
Re: dodge L 1000
Looks great so far. Keep it up

Re: dodge L 1000
Ahh, now we're talking! Building the trailer frame rails out of brass, and including the proper web or channel. I like that! Been following your build on Scale 4x4, but it's to see you sharing the build here too. Keep going..!
