 Re: IH5900i heavy haul tractor

I know I've told you before Steve, but I really like this truck. The grill turned out great and I like your suspension. Looks like you are waiting on airbags now? Always good to be reaching the home stretch with a project.

thanks nathan not waiting for need to stop pushing them off and get them made . I almost had another blow up today:eek: and said screw it I'm working on my stuff :p I'm sick of seeing my cabs turning yellow and the $ star frame rusting . this coming week should be un interrupted last week was supposed to be , ha not . Then this place starts up :D:D:D:D:D and I get in 1 of those competitive moods and started posting :eek:when I should been buildin , well I guess I'm just real happy about this place :D so I'm better now as you can see

 Re: IH5900i heavy haul tractor

after staring at the pics of the real truck the grill assem. just did not look right . So while making wheel hubs I fixed it ;) then made the insert tonight :D . also got the wheels on that are supposed to be . I wanted to cut 10 diamonds in them but thought they be to small to see anyway :( (maybe later ) and put the remade lift axle on  And we're getting closer to paint :chug::D

 Re: IH5900i heavy haul tractor

The grill looks great, Steve! The rims are really nice as well. I'm curious how you made them. You must have a lathe too. How do you drill the holes and get them perfectly spaced? You must have a manual turntable?

 Re: IH5900i heavy haul tractor

Thor , Nathan , Ed thanks
Nathan ,yes I have a very old 14" lathe .I want to get a cnc tool room lathe with a 2.5" spindle bore :D I had a fixture made up for me . so I can make 10 , 5 , and 2 hole for now . the 5 and 2 hole steel I used to oval the holes with a mill cutter in my dremel  I did it again on the light buckets and just about took my leg of  but it was worth it :D IHSteve |

Can't wait to see the air bags, Steve! Finally she'll be sitting properly on her suspension! I might have guessed you would have gone with PMD's simulated air bags at first, making your own should be a cake walk, after all the other awesome parts you've machined up. :D
