Hi Scotty, it depends on a couple of things, I will try to help you work it out. The most important thing is what is the pitch (Distance between one thread and the next thread) of the thread you are driving. if say you use a M6.0 x 1.0 (6mm thread by 1.0mm pitch) then with a 60 RPM motor, you would 'screw' 60mm per minute. This is reasonably strong but slow.

I am currently running my screw dump trailer 12V @ 140RPM, on 7.2V NiCad, meaning I get 70 odd RPM and it is way to slow. I have now got a 150RPM at 6V which I think will be much better, just not sure about the strength.

Next this is how much throw you need on the thread to do what you want, and to work backwards to the RPM.

I realise I have rembled a bit, check out my screw drive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syoxV5SVbOc

Thanks i will probably use that carson motor for there semi dump trailer and if its to slow ill just buy a new motor.

Dave i have been on that before but instead of using the thruster bearing im going to uss two nuts so it dosnt undo the bolt instead of lift the bed

Thanks scott
