Scania 8x8 dump
 

Finally bit the bullet and got this Scania 8x8 all metal dump. Really impressed with this truck right out of the box. In the middle of moving so I don't have a lot of time to play with this yet. My friend got one of these, but fluid oil tank leaks so waiting for replacement. Had a little drive of it and it's nice truck.

Haven't tried mine out yet. Still in the process of moving. Hopefully my hydraulic tank don't leak. Thanks for the heads up.

We measured 150ml of oil and added to tank, but found the tipper even without load would gradually start lower by itself. So added about 20-30ml but tank was full so spilled out, so maybe the overfilled system caused the tank to leak by over pressure or maybe was the cause of the tipper not holding in up right position to start with. Will know more when replacement tank arrives.

Nice Truck!! Tank will leak no matter what, gives it kind of a scale oil/dirt realistic look so i don't bother with it anymore.

Those black CNC milled axles from Lesu are the most durable one can get for 1:Tamiya according to my opinion. I have opened quite a lot different type axles. In my region those are the standard for construction trucks when it come to replace original Tamiya axles. In general, stay away from the yellow/light blue ones sold at rc4wd, among others, which are quite bellow in quality, but not so different in price, from the Lesu ones.

Sealing the lesu tanks that have caps on each end that leak.

Drain the oil out.

loosen the set screws that hold the end caps on and remove end caps.

Clean the inside of the tank and both end caps well with rubbing alcohol.

Using clear silicone caulking place a bead of it all around each end cap over the rubber O-ring and push the end cap back on.

If you put enough silicone on it you will have silicone that oozed out the edges of the tank that can be wiped off using rubbing alcohol. Remove the excess silicone right away and it will all come off nicely. Let the tank sit over night. It won't leak again.

When one see in general what junk have come out of Asia regarding RC machinery the last years, this 8x8 truck seams surprisingly well built, with many high quality parts. I am actually surprised, positively. Hopefully they will continue on this path, and we will see more trucks that are much more value for money than the Scalearts

one thing you guy didn't notice about this truck is its dual steering need an adjustment, I still can't find a good solution for that. Anyway I'm very happy with it.

It goes with the saying. You get what you pay for. These are top notch for sure.
Havent checked to see if it leaks yet. [still moving] That's the first thing I will do if it does thanks for the tip.
I'm very impressed and pleased with mine.
There should be adjustments on the drag link or tie rods.

Yes we spotted that issue on me friends one of the steering wheels is wrong and catches on the suspension during full lock. We presumed it was a one off faulty.

Because the other 3 wheels are correct no way of adjusting it. On the one I saw it looked like the arm between the wheel axle (sorry don't know technical name) was a fraction too short giving to much tow out on that one wheel. The arm looked non adjustable, well I didn't want to risk breaking it as it wasn't mine. Anyway seeing my friend and truck again in a weeks time so going to replace it with a Tamiya arm or a custom made one as I've some bits spare. Plus he's replacement tank has arrived this so will let you know if it cures the issue.

Quick update my friend fitted new tank and that leaks as well. He's since got the first tank welded up so hopefully that has fixed the problem.

After your friend replaced a new tank where is the leak located? You can test it by removing the breather and seal it with a 3mm screw then run the pump to see where the leak comes from. I guess the leak comes from the pump and not the tank.
