GMC Topkick 4500

2 Attachment(s)
just wanted to post a new project i have going, the GMC Topkick 4500. i used the Pro-line topkick body that fits the Savage XL(13.8 in wheelbase), and have redesigned one of my Axial frames to fit it. really thinking about doing a Police truck version of this, since i can not find any sort of pictures to base my idea off of. it is somewhat hard to see in the pics, since the body is still clear for now. hopefully that will change in the next few days...

This guy made one using SCX10 frame and tamiya semi axles/rims/tires.

yes, you are correct. he is the guy i got the idea from, and i actually had to ask him how he cut down the rear axle soo much. not sure if i can say his name here, But thank you, Ed!!!

Re: GMC Topkick 4500

I think he said he is using an Integy rear axle. Thinking that would be an axial scx10 axle, not a semi as previously thought.

stock tamiya too wide?

Re: GMC Topkick 4500

he explained it to me, using the stock rear axle. he had to cut it down to fit the dual wheel under the body. he told me how he did it, but i went a slightly different way, since i did not have all of the pieces i needed.

I love this truck body so much, wish I had the money to buy the real thing...

Re: GMC Topkick 4500

I really try to refrain from cutting down axles... just not a fan of it.

Lets see how yours goes!

and the real trucks, the oilfield guys have them here and sadly nothing but troubles with the drivetrain. not sure why but they are phasing them out.

Re: GMC Topkick 4500

my cut down axle should work like a charm. granted, i am not a fan of cutting them, either. but no one happens to make an axle the size i needed.
