Its good to see that you guys are paying attention to what we have been doing to this truck for 10 years now with are modds and the great parts are awesome vendors have stuck there necks and wallets out to make but it would of been nice to see the body get fixed to look more right. Like getting the sleeper the same height as the cab and get the fender lights gone and move the fenders ahead so the axle is in the right space.

Are they going to stop making the King Hauler? I hope not because some guys like myself will still use the after market parts and rather not pay the extra for the new parts. I paid my pre order so I cant wait to get one and build it just have to have a stock one in the fleet like the rest it looks pretty good for a box stock truck..

Mr Anderson ...
did the kit come with bearings on the drives or did you choose to upgrade?

Izzy, It came with a few ball bearings. I will be adding a list to the build.

Re: Clean & Mean Grand Hauler Build

I came across something I know a lot will not care for. Since this is the king hauler body, there was only room for one light bucket. So one light in the 2 light cluster is a dummy light.

I will be modifying mine to use two lights though. All light buckets will have LED's on my build.

Re: Clean & Mean Grand Hauler Build

I noticed the rear bumper has 3 spots for reverse lights and they show 3 leds going in those spots.. To my knowledge every MFU I've had only had a single reverse led. Did they change something??

Nothing changed on MFC, they give you options, I will be using all LED buckets.

Attached is a peek at my mod

Re: Clean & Mean Grand Hauler Build

So to add more reverse lights are you just wiring them in??

janderson 02-09-2015 02:59 PM

Re: Clean & Mean Grand Hauler Build

Ok Article is updated, this includes the new headlights buckets. Still working on wiring diagram to show how I wired it up.

Question?

I noticed the ends of the axle shafts are splined but inside of the rims have a hex hole. Is there an adapter used?

Re: Clean & Mean Grand Hauler Build

So any luck in figuring out if the full fenders can be used without issue with the motorized leg kit?

The only thing I think that it is missing is the new 5th wheel servo mount that looks like a catwalk. I think that would really finish of the truck vs. the servo being totally exposed like that.

Working on the fender thing right now. The servo mount is not currently in stock but will be added.

Re: Clean & Mean Grand Hauler Build

Mr. Anderson, Why does Tamiya always make it a complete pain to change motors or the pinion gear in the semis and F350 style trucks? You either have to completely (not quite) disassemble the vehicle or cut the tranny cover to do any kind of changing.

This build is one of the best tutorials to date. Showing how you wired the extra LEDs is a big help to a lot of people.

A BIG Thank you for taking the time to do this and for introducing this new truck to the forum.

Ok, let me preface this with I know most of you will know what trucks these are but I am labeling them for people new to tamiya tractors.

Photos taken with front bumpers lined up.

Thanks for laying them out like that Mr. Anderson. Looks like a set of Grand hauler rails and an extra set of cascadia fairing panels will make for a nice looking Cascadia :D:D
