ECMT Bridge 2.0

I just got some new pics in of the bridge. Jim made some adjustments from the version we had at the March show. He extended the ramp by the dump-thru, added the second ramp and intersection, and of course, added the tower and cables... what a huge difference! Jim is the man! :D

That's awesome! I really liked the curvature of the ramps - it allowed for a more realistic experience.

That is an awesome piece of work! It looks great and will add a lot of variety to operation. Next, working traffic lights and a motorcycle cop!

Re: ECMT Bridge 2.0

Rod, yes that bridge is EXCELLENT!!! Will it be at the Indy show? Also, how is it transported? Sections I'm assuming. How big/wide are the lanes? Is this the same one you had at the previous show and modified or is it completely new?

Sorry for so many questions, I'm trying to see if we can build one for our group here in Michigan. Then how and where to store the bridge? Did Jim create this from a "plan" or free-lance it? Any guidence will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Jim J

Re: ECMT Bridge 2.0

Jim,

This is a completely new bridge. It is built in sections and assembles/disassembles a ton easier than the previous version. We haul it with the rest of our club gear in an enclosed trailer. It actually transports pretty easily.

Jim totally built the bridge out of his creativity. He researched scale bridges on the web and had some ideas before he started to build. He truly is an artist!

Re: ECMT Bridge 2.0

Rod, thank you for the response. I'll do some research and see if we can do something simple for our group. Is this bridge going to be at the "Indy" show? We'll see maybe I can get to your groups' next event.

Thank you for the information,

Jim J

Jim,

I don't believe the bridge will make it to the Indy show. But, it will be in New Jersey next monday for the first show with it since the upgrades!

Plenty of pix will be had!!!

Thanks for compliments.

Rod, thank you for the information. I may have to wait for one of the later shows to see this bridge up-close, but I'll get there. What show next Monday? I thought the next show wasn't until early June?

What/which bridge will be at "Indy"?

Thank you, talk to you later,

Jim J

Re: ECMT Bridge 2.0

Rod, thank you for the clarification. I'll see how things are going, maybe I'll show up at this next event too! I'm going to see if I can put something together for our small group too. Do you or would your friend Jim have any mesurments? I was thinking that the bridge should be about 22 inches wide, then with the guard railing would probably be 24 inches overall in width. I thought that using 1/4" to 3/8" should be enough to hold several trucks with bracing underneath at about 16" centers. Elevation, 12 to 16 inches clear should do it. Your thoughts?

What about the guard railing, ideas?

Thank you, talk to you later,

Jim

Re: ECMT Bridge 2.0

Jim,

I think your measurement concept is spot on! As for the guide railing, ours is all wood... two pieces.

Wow. I never checked this section of the forum until today! I'm guessing there are a lot of other members who haven't seen this beauty. This bridge is incredible looking! Right up there with some of the best ones I've seen at German truck shows. No doubt this is an awesome addition to the club.

Nathan,

Thanks for the compliments! We are very fortunate to have the bridge! Its a HUGE upgrade from the one that I made way back when.

I dug out a couple of pics from the ECLC this year, the first show w/ the finalized bridge:
