Rain caps update 8/16/11
 
Well woke up this morning and sat in chair to find this on the table:

So got the truck in the shop right now gotta order some shinys from Ric but at the moment i am working on some Rain Caps for 8" exhaust stacks:

Had to look twice!!!!!!!! thought it was Travis but then i saw he wasn't wearing dukes of hazard pajamas of bib overalls so cant be him.

Oops wasnt supposed to see that, i usally keep all that nice and tied up but been having to move all the stuff lately so i kinda got lazythose wires are for tv,game stuff and such.:D

Mike most real flappers have just one bolt that holds them together. In my opinion by putting two in it like you have you got it to long. I would suggest that you try to shorten it a little and just use one bolt it possible.

The general shape of it look spot on thought good work.

Version 2.0 of the rain caps look incredible. Very nice work. I'd paint them black. They get sooted up pretty quick on the 1:1 machines. Now you need an air pump, hooked the motor ESC, so as you give throttle, the caps will open up. I always liked the 'ting, ting' noise the rain caps make on an engine that is idling, as they flap up and down.

I have to agree with Nate on the color Mike... Nate they sound real neat till you are trying to sleep next to them.

Thanks for the input on this it took my old age brain to finally figure out what look i wanted, gonna use flat black on them and i am gonna makes sure i mount them the right way:D,cause i figured out in my first pics on truck it was backwards:eek:
