Drill press fixture question...

Guys,

http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/...ps84a8da98.jpg

Anyone have one of these or something like it? I dont see a brake to tighten up on the lateral screws? They are so free that the weight of the cranks will cause them to rotate and move the sled from position.

It is a cheapie I got from a buddy years ago and I have never used one until the other day.

Thanks

Jim

Since you said its a cheapy I'm not sure it has a gib that presses against the dovetail, but you might want to try tightening those 3 screws. Those are usually gib screws and it should take the play out of each axis. See: http://www.mini-lathe.com/reviews/La...g_C8/gib02.JPG

Hope this helps.

Yep, there are three on each axis! I'll give em a twist. Probably more that I don't know how to use this as much as anything else.

Thanks!

Fin,

I did adjust the gib screws as you suggested I got them just a tiny bit too tight. I should clean and lube it and see how it goes.

I cant believe I have gotten by without this thing for all these years! I do sort of miss watching stuff spin around on the end of the drill bit though!

I love using the drill press now! I could NEVER have done the conversion on the little crane without it!

Thanks Again,

Jim
