I have also thought of blacking out a lot of parts to build a work truck - chrome is great, but for a real life, day-to-day utility truck, black is more often what you get.

What he said ^ and to add to it --- most people refer to them as lathe motors because that's what they where originally designed for. Very high number of windings "turns". More Turns = lower RPMs...

I don't have any pic's as of yet, but combining 2 kits is exactly what I'm doing to get a more realistic flatbed trailer.
I measured out true scale length of a trailer and made a frame to the right...
