Don't think you will have any problems with the solder so long as you give it all a good wash in soapy water when you have finished to kill off any flux.

Just out of interest, how much is a hook lift kit.

I scratch built my own hook lift a couple of years ago and cost me a fortune in scrap ally.
I have a flat plant carrying skip and a rubble skip....

yep, I know that feeling.....for my sins I've just started a 3 axle oil field truck, brilliant inspiration from these posts.
Still a bit strange looking to UK eyes, big long truck with the wheels...
