Re: Wooldridge 1940s Bottom-Dump Truck

Good thoughts jerry. I really wasn't sure if i would be better off to let the doors have more room to do what they want, and remember to close when it's on the flats. Or if different amounts of...

Re: Wooldridge 1940s Bottom-Dump Truck

Thanks jerry, i'd wanted to come up with something overly complex, probably having little pivots that would get dirty and jam. Then i noticed some 1/10 crawler accessory chain still on the bench. I...

Re: Wooldridge 1940s Bottom-Dump Truck

Monighan, I thought i'd remembered a really nice Tournarocker build of yours. It was really trick, but i'm aiming a little lower since i don't have a Mill, Lathe, Layout blocks, Skill...

Re: Wooldridge 1940s Bottom-Dump Truck

Anybody remember what's the big thing a DUMP truck really needs to be able to do?

Well then we better do something about that!

Re: Build an Excavator from Scratch

That's really cool!
I didn't know that stacking planitary gears like that could give a locking geartrain.

Re: Wooldridge 1940s Bottom-Dump Truck

Pufferfish, There are some small parts, but other than some gearbox screws and the setscrews for shaft couplers, it's not being too fiddly yet.

Mounting these gearboxes to the inside of a smaller...

Good to see you back with some updates on that project.

Re: Wooldridge 1940s Bottom-Dump Truck

Jerry, thanks for your help brainstorming on this one! I think the Wooldridge power unit should be good for 2 esc, 1 rx, some sub-C nimh, pilot light, driver. Then the attachment can carry servos and...

Re: Axle suggestions?

Yeah jerry, that's a big chunk of why i went to some RC hobby 6v motors as used in a rock crawler vs trying again with the 6v Industrial motors. Bearing, Windings, Brushes, Armatures, Magnets all...

Wooldridge 1940s Bottom-Dump Truck

Goal: I want a larger Dump truck that's going to be easier to hit with a Dragline bucket than my Structo 1960s pickup, and Nylint 1930s pickup.
Yeah, just for ease of loading, i'm not even worrying...

Re: Axle suggestions?

These '23 rpm' boxes use the same case as the '90 rpm', differences are just internal, gear sizes & layout.

As it fits in tractor before i made new hitch, did involve notch & flatten part of frame...

Re: Axle suggestions?

A couple minutes with these new "23 rpm" / 260:1 boxes got the motors swapped. Wired straight to a 6 nimh stick pack seems like it should have the torque up closer to where i need it.

I'm sorta...

Re: Tamiya 3348 - how to change to 6x6

Can you get enough traction just starting with Locked axles or Limited-slip?
Do you want to keep the 3-spd?
Do you want to be Full-time driven or Selectable front drive?

There's a lot more info...

Re: Tamiya 3348 - how to change to 6x6

I believe most of the all-driven conversions used to use a Tamiya TLT front axle, rear inner-dually rims for the steer wheels.

Sometimes add a t-case behind 3spd gearbox, slight trans lift and...

Re: Nylint michigan crane conversion, hopefully

I know that a WPL / JJRC axle with the plastc D-chassis wheel is narrow enough it looks like it'd be the inner wheels of a dually. I still need to try ordering some aluminums. Do they have anything...
