Can scratches be buffed out of plastic bodies?

I have a 2006 chev body made from planet toys in a charcoal gray and would like to keep the same colour..it has quite a few scatches ...has anyone had ane experience with buffing plastic...im worried...

Heres a preveiw of the boom on the machine...Pretty long over 39 inches...Trying for the 2554 witch is 46 feet so im in the ball park...looking over stats from the 3554 and it 54 feet...gona take...
