You might have a bent shift fork,or rod. OR someone put bearings in the slider,WHICH is a no no! Bushings are made to slide on the shaft,NOT bearings.
Could always go w/a r-2,I have quite a few trucks w/r-2s in them,& love them. But have a lot more w/tamiya 3 spds & never had a problem with one. If you can't find the problem,p/m me, & I'll see what I can do to help you out.
