Decided to finally start a new topic geared towards crushing and screening. Seems every time we have shows with dirt we need BETTER dirt without big rocks and clumps. So... I have been searching for some time, smaller laboratory crushing equipment rather than scratch building a new crusher. Eventually I'll get to the screening and conveying part as time permits.

Recently I came across these two crushers on Ebay that came from a gold mine in Colorado. They looked like what I wanted so I had them sent 1400miles to my shop. ![]() Here is a shot of the jaw crusher. It is a Morse Bros. model 2000 4''x6'' opening. This seems a bit out of scale for what we are doing. I was hoping it was the model 1000 that is a little smaller. Second is a 4'' x 4'' single roll crusher built by Joy Manufacturing. Anybody that has any info on the roller crusher please let me know. I have searched the internet without any success for info on this one. ![]() Here is another one I bought locally off Craigslist near me. Manufactured by, Denver Fire Clay It has the correct size jaws but overall too big.

I've been looking for one to. If you go on EBay, I found a smaller hand driven one that I think a motor could be adapted to, not sure if it's still on there but, it was brand new so I think the guy is making them and selling them on eBay.

I need to clean these off and see if I can recover some of the gold dust stuck to these. When I removed the belt cover on the jaw crusher , I found two pieces of stone about 2B gravel size that have streaks of gold in them

I got around to dismantling the roll crusher and discovered why the previous owner said it was very noisy..... wonder why?

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() One end of the shaft was pretty wiped out and bushing worn out of round to about .060'' play between the two. I looked around some to see if I could buy a self lubricating bushing off the shelf. No luck, custom made, so I'll be making some new ones and I'm going to try to insert new graphite plugs in. I was thinking of building the thrust bushing up with some JB Weld with graphite mixed in. Not sure if that will work for a bearing surface though. |

I took a quick look but didn't find anything. The bushing I need, like I said before is not a standard bushing. When I get a chance I'll just make it. I have the cored bar and graphite rods to do so.

Added another piece to the company assets. Thought one of these little crushers would be nice for a second stage to reduce the material from the big jaw crusher. Gonna have to add some flywheels to it though

IDK anything about the second one, but I do know that the Morse crusher is a fantastic unit! In addition to this hobby I small scale prospect for gold with my 3inch suction dredge. Nothing much, NEVER get rich at it. I've found about half an ounce in the last 4 years of doing it. Wa state in my immediate surrounding area(s) is't know for have large flakes, or having a deposit in large quantities of that illusive yellow stuff.
