Custom decals with ink jet & paper
I ran across this decal method, i haven't tried it yet, but it looks promising.
https://youtu.be/IRgepSBdJLs Inkjet printer Cheap printer paper Valspar gloss clear Hairdryer It doesn't seem to look as bright and new as waterslide or vinyl. But it sounds more durable than waterslide. I probably wouldn't do it on plastic.

What do ya mean "Cars are neither Trucks or Construction"? It's still scale, and i play fairly well with others, most of the time...
