Flame tipped exhaust stacks!?

Hey All.
I noticed something strange about a truck that came to the shop today. At first I wondered how the heck the guy shredded the tips of his stacks and on what?!

once I got closer I saw what was going on.....never seen these before and just thought I'd share.

I dunno....not sure what to think?
