Does anyone out there know if anybody has done an RC conversion of the Bruder 2818 crane? I picked one up tonight for about 1/2 price, with the conversion in mind for a future project. I've looked to see if anybody has done one already to get some ideas, no need to reinvent the wheel and all that. Problem is I can't find any conversions of this beast. Am I going to be blazing a new trail, or is that I just haven't found the right search parameters yet?

I personally have not seen a crane Mack conversion but seen the plenty Mack tipper truck conversions. The crane looks cool. Looks like a new thread coming. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

It'll be a SLOOOOWWW build when I do it. I picked this one up because, as you say, it looked cool and the price was right. I've got WAY too many other projects going on, and that 4 letter word that rhymes with "Wurk" keeps getting in the road. This one will probably sit on the shelf while I cogitate on how it can be done. RC Modder has several good ideas in his Bruder conversions that I am not above shamelessly stealing and using. I really like his idea of using the 3D printer lead screw in a linear actuator.
