Picked up the tub and parts this week, they turned out great! The nose of the trailer is proving to be a real pain in the you know what...lot of nooks and crannies to polish but should be completed this weekend. Other then that I just have the lights and wiring to do

Ya dumper looked great so I thought until I removed the saran wrap to put the trailer back together!
Powder coater messed this one up bad!! He actually painted on top of the tape! Look at that awful orange peel...not to mention a big drip mark on the bottom of the tail gate door ![]() ![]() ![]()

Spraying powder over the tape is a boner maneuver for sure but the rest is not that bad from what I've seen. I totally understand your frustration as I have been there myself
. You can carefully sand and buff the drip out on the tailgate. The shop I use preheats all of my stuff before spraying the powder now and it seems to turn out better than before. It's still not 100% perfect though and always has a flaw somewhere. I've learned to except that it is not going to look like a "show" paint job but won't scratch like one either. I think it is pretty difficult to apply enough powder on all edges without it building up too much on others hence the drip. Depending on how thick it is, you may be able to sand and polish some of the orange peel too. Just don't try it on velvet black because it becomes glossy really quick!

Thanks for the words of encouragement Reg. I guess I am pretty fussy since so many hours of work have gone into this trailer that I want it looking it's best! But yeah like you said nothing is perfect...but I sure as h3ll am trying to get it there!

Waiting to hear from the powder coaters and hopefully get this issue worked out.

Like I said, I understand. I've picked stuff up a few times only to start assembling it and notice something unacceptable. It will be interesting to hear their thoughts. When my stuff has had a bad spot they have sanded and re-coated the parts. I don't see that being a solution here. The coating can be chemically stripped as well but that may ruin your polishing?

Sorry to hear that, very disappointing. How do you strip that off?

Yeah powder coater just got back to me said he's going to strip it chemically and re-shoot it come Monday. Asked him about the chemical stripper he uses and if it would effect the polished aluminum underneath and he said no...so will see come next week.

Hopefully powder coater keeps his word and has it done for the weekend...it's starting to take long. He also fixes motorcycles in a side shop and had a client waiting on his harley, guess he wanted some seat time before the cold hits!

Bought this Duratoy converter going to be my winter project. Plan on adding a motor to power the conveyor belt, another motor to open/close the chute door, also going to put a vibrator motor on the hopper. I cut out some sheet metal and raised it 5" to help clear the chute opening for our 1/14 trucks.
