The nice thing about ripstop nylon its thin flexible and the edges can be fused together with a solder iron carefully ,like melting the end of a nylon rope . I made bike packs years ago and that's how we sealed the edges . Therefore no need for a sewing machine but if you want one pay the shipping and I'll send you one . I think spandex is to thick it's meant to keep extra body parts contained . Mike

Sorry Reg didn't mean to start anything.

Seriously, you would be surprised what you might learn if you took that trailer to a fabric shop. Those ladies could tell you all about what the best fabric to use would be and you might even learn options for attaching it. You might even find some remnents real cheap.

Yes it is Mike and I think he does. No parting with the truck. Just the trailer...

Mario, I think even though we have never met we have spent a fair bit of time emailing back and forth over the last couple of years and you've gotten to know me fairly well. You know that when I take on any project whether it's for myself or someone else I want it to turn out better than the last. I'm not one that is easily satisfied with my work and that keeps pushing me to try harder. At the end of it all I just want to be able to say that I did the best I could and have it be the truth pass or fail. Nothing is ever perfect but as long as I am having fun, learning new things and the customers are happy I'll keep at it. If not, I'll blame it on you because you're the one that got me started building this crap for other people.

Anyway, here's a picture of the new tarp on Benny's beautiful trailer.

HI Reg everyday I hope to see pics of your stuff on here , your making me push my train modelling up a notch or so , but this awesome trailer is making me do something in metal not wood and that I've engineered myself . Sandy tells me to make the dump trailer like yours but I don't know where to put the railway wheels ! But I've thought of a cool project you could build ---- a stone slinger ! Take care Mike

Good stuff Mike! I think that's kinda the fun part of this because we all push each other to achieve more whether we know it or not. The end result is the hobby just gets better. I have been thinking about a slinger truck for a while now but I just don't have time at the moment for any projects like that. It would be cool to shoot dirt at someone at a show though!

No train talk. That's where I spend the majority of my day. Not the real deal RR but NYC Transit. Kinda looking forward to December though, start training to operate their diesel work trains and I wont have to deal with the lovely nyc passengers.

Helping a friend with a HO scale layout as well. Have a few items collecting dust at the moment because of this site lol.

I haven't accomplished as much as I would like lately but I have been doing some work.lol I wasn't able to get any metric angle but I finally managed to find some SAE aluminum that is close in size to the stock Tamiya trailer rails and easy to get. It is about .010 thicker and only 19mm on the top vs 20mm but I think it's close enough. Anyway, this is my first go at making the rails for these two trailers. The one trailer is running aluminum airbag suspension and axles from China and the other is using stock Tamiya tandems and suspension from Exclusive RC on the other two axles. Both will be finished completely different.
