Default King hauler Dump Truck

I just wanted to show off a project that I am working on a King hauler dump truck I know that its not any new but I am working on a lift mechanism that I hope I will work without a lot of modification to the truck. It is using a Firgelli L12 servo that works real nice until you put weight in the box, so I think that I will have to use a gearmotor and a screw. Any suggestions are welcome Thanks in advance.

I talked to Ian at Firgelli a little while back about the lack of power from the L-12 and he said they are coming out with a L-16 with a lot more power. He was nice enough to send me a couple prototypes of this and WOW, what a difference!!! He said they should be on the market within a couple months, they will be well worth the wait and I think they should be enough power to dump a load of dirt.(Ian told me each one should be able to lift 40lbs.)

Thank You, I was on the Firgelli web site today and I noticed the L16 they are 12 volt. I was hoping to run this on a regular 7.2 battery pack. Ian is a real nice guy he sent me some parts to repair that servo in the picture.

The L-16 is 12 volt but I run mine on my wrecker with a 7.2 volt battery and it works fine. The new L-16 prototype will plug right in to your receiver. Those are the ones that are coming on the market in the next couple months. You are right, Ian is a very nice guy to deal with. I bought two of the L-16's, when I got them, noticed it was a five pin connection instead of 3 pin like a regular receiver plug. Called up Ian, by the next morning he emailed me to let me know he had built 2 prototypes for me and shipped them out to me that day!! Awesome dude!!!

I spent some time on the paint over the last couple of days. The white and yellow is paint the orange and black is vinyl. Now I have to finish the box and it will be ready for work. The next project will be to finish my excavator that I started many years ago.

Nice truck, and box. I like the color scheme. Did you lift the cab on this one? Looks to be sitting a little higher than usual. The scissors lift mechanism is nice. Home made, or something available through the net?

Yes I did lift the cab i just flipped the angle brackets over. The scissor lift is one that I made, the parts were cut with a waterjet. I built a new box for it today the other one sat to high and I was not happy with my welds. i will post some pics of it soon. thanks for the comments.

Here are some photos of the new box with the side rails. They still need some work to finish them up. The new box sits lower on the frame and the bottom edge is nice and sharp.[IMG][/IMG][IMG][IMG][/IMG][/IMG]
